INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers  have won an NBA-best 11 straight games, and their star, LeBron James, says he's willing to do whatever it takes to keep the Cavs' success going -- even if it means coming off the bench.

"It's all about the team and for me being the leader of the team, it doesn't matter. Whatever this team needs in order for us to win, I'll come off the bench. I'm serious. I'll come off the bench," James said after practice Wednesday. "If it helps our team, that's what it's about, man.

Sacrifice is the biggest word in team sports, but it's not about saying it. It's about doing it as well. It's about living it.
- LeBron James
"It's about a team and how we all fit together, how the five guys on the court fit together, how the eight guys or 10 guys on the bench all help the guys that are on the floor and so on and so on. So, sacrifice is the biggest word in team sports, but it's not about saying it. It's about doing it, as well. It's about living it."

James made his remarks a couple of days afterKevin Love's individual struggles came into focus following his season-low five-point output on just 1-of-7 shooting in a 97-84 win over thePhiladelphia 76ers. Love did not have a shot attempt after the first quarter.

James' offer to come off the bench was figurative, of course. He merely was illustrating the lengths he is prepared to go in order to keep the Cavs moving forward in the Eastern Conference standings. The 12-year veteran has started 881 of his 882 games in the pros. The only time he's come off the bench was Dec. 11, 2007, in a home win against the Indiana Pacers, making his return to the lineup after missing five straight games because of a sprained left index finger.

Besides, Cleveland coach David Blatt would never go for LeBron not being among the starting five.

"No. No. Nope," Blatt said. "He's doing fine as he is. He's doing quite fine."

Blatt appreciated James' overarching message, however.

"LeBron is a champion and he's not only a great player, but he's a great teammate and he wants his guys, his teammates, to do well and he wants the team to do well," Blatt said. "And that's a big positive; it's a really big positive."

About the only shortcoming you can point to when it comes to Cleveland these days is Love's play on offense. Playing in 10 games during the Cavs' current streak, he's averaging just 13.9 points on 37.2 percent shooting.

Blatt downplayed Love's struggles, pointing out how he is helping the team's overall cause.

"I think Kevin is very much in the flow of the game and is playing both ends of the court," Blatt said. "The last thing I really worry about with Kevin Love is if he is going to score. That's the last thing that concerns me. He's a proven scorer in this league and a proven high-level scorer. And he's helping the team win. He's playing to win, and that's really what both concerns me and what impresses me about him, is he's been willing to do whatever it takes to help us win, and that's what we want."

I don't believe in real plus or minus

Here's why

http://regressing.deadspin.com/just-what-the-hell-is-real-plus-minus-espns-new-nba-s-1560361469

Look man you look for all these advance stats to spin it. I'm telling you as a dude who watches the majority of their games. Tim is still the centerpiece of them offensively and defensively. Hes not the 3rd option, at worst it's 1a/1b/1c now

They can win for a bit without Tony or Manu out but they aren't with Tim out

Look man you seem to hate reading and basic math, imperical exidence

Did you read on word of that article? Seriously?

It isn't suggesting that the statistic isn't useful or that the numbers are meaningless, it's mearly suggesting it's ESPN repackaging of a well known USEFUL formula.

1. I watch the Spurs, too you aren't the only one.

2. Manu said HIMSELF they switched to a Tony/Manu centric offence.

3. You can find a million articles about there switch from 09-10 Tim Duncan centred offence. (Tim duncan lead the team in usg rate) to a Perimeter oriented attack, where Tony lead the team in usg rate.

4. You can use raw on court off court if you want.

Per 82 games.

Manu +7 offence.
Tony -1
Tim Duncan -2

I perfer to use adjusted plus minus to account for quality of competition.

5. If you want to continue beliving that the Spurs run a Tim Duncan centred offence against ALL AVAILABLE EVIDENCE then go right ahead.

here it is around the 3:40 mark, Manu says they went from Tim Ducan post up, to speard pick and roll for Tony and for Manu, then to coach bhudeholzer offence.

After the Spurs got swept by the Suns in 2010, they revamped their entire offense.

Was confirmation from Ginobili really needed?

Kobe may be a loner but he was never shy or timid

He was a loner actually until he sexually assaulted that girl.  From then on, Kobe was never the same.  He went out and got some coat of arms tattoo, started to go on the Kool-Aid, to which he's still sipping.  Thinking LA will win another ring.

No, it's been well documented by many.  He was clean, had no tattoos, was never the type to go out, and always worked at his game.  But that summer, he made the mistake.  Came back on cameras with a green tattoo, and all tears at the press conference.  From then on, he did change.  He was more outgoing, started to cruise w/ usa swimmers, and gave no damns.  But he knows his game is now gone, so he mingles with the LBJ, taps peoples bun (aka Curry), and what not.  The OLD KOBE woulda be barking, these ballerina PGs woulda been shut down and hurt before they reached 28 points.

Bravelude is kinda right...Kobe did become more outgoing after the trial. His image was pretty much flipped on its side so he just decided to say eff it.

Antidope is this your boy playing games again?

Adam Silver:

“Ultimately we want to see your best teams in the playoffs. And there is an unbalance and a certain unfairness. There is a proposal (from one of the broadcasters)… where the division winners would all automatically go into the playoffs and then you’d seed the next 10 best teams. I think that’s the kind of proposal we need to look at. There are travel issues of course, but in this day in age every team of course has their own plane, travels charter. I don’t think the discussion should end there. And as I’ve said, my first year I was studying a lot of these issues and year two is time to take action. It’s something I’m going to look at closely with the competition committee. I do think it’s an area where we need to make a change.”
