Although the change in the playoff format to me has to be paired with a change in scheduling.
maybe, but even with the fact that the East teams have easier schedules, there would still be more West teams in the playoffs if it were just top 16 records...........

They can win for a bit without Tony or Manu out but they aren't with Tim out

Look man you seem to hate reading and basic math, imperical exidence

Did you read on word of that article? Seriously?

It isn't suggesting that the statistic isn't useful or that the numbers are meaningless, it's mearly suggesting it's ESPN repackaging of a well known USEFUL formula.

1. I watch the Spurs, too you aren't the only one.

2. Manu said HIMSELF they switched to a Tony/Manu centric offence.

3. You can find a million articles about there switch from 09-10 Tim Duncan centred offence. (Tim duncan lead the team in usg rate) to a Perimeter oriented attack, where Tony lead the team in usg rate.

4. You can use raw on court off court if you want.

Per 82 games.

Manu +7 offence.
Tony -1
Tim Duncan -2

I perfer to use adjusted plus minus to account for quality of competition.

5. If you want to continue beliving that the Spurs run a Tim Duncan centred offence against ALL AVAILABLE EVIDENCE then go right ahead.

Did read the article?

Its a faulted system. Theres all sorts of anomalies and its inconsistent season to season

1. Good for you. You must have alot time on your hands.

2. I dont care what Manu says. Lebron says he'll come off the bench. They just words.

3. Parker Usage rates the last 2 seasons.....27.7, 26.5
Duncan usage rates the last 2 seasons.....27.8. 25.2

The difference is usage rate is nominal

Heres an article that talks about the impact Timmy still has the Spurs

http://www.poundingtherock.com/2014...rs-big-three-by-the-numbers-part-3-tim-duncan

Over the years, Duncan has taken on less of the scoring load, but his presence on the court has helped his teammates get better shots during the playoffs. Since the 2007-2008 playoffs, the Spurs have shot 3 percentage points higher from the field with Duncan on the court, and if you look at the impact that Duncan has on particular players, like Tony Parker, the delta is much greater. During the same time frame, Timmy's presence on the court has improved the shooting efficiency of Tony's lineups by a whopping 24% margin! He is currently on the upswing for the past two postseasons. Interestingly, During the 2013-2014 title run, he has provided a 2% lift in field goal percentage for his teammates.

Since lineup data became available during the 2007-2008 season, Duncan has provided his team with an 8% lift in assists when he is on the court in the playoffs. It was actually a noteworthy 10% during their most recent run. Since rotations make a huge impact on the game, I will note that 86% of the time Tim Duncan is on the court, Tony Parker is there alongside him. However, Tony's delta since the 2007-2008 playoffs has been half of Tim's, just 4%!

]In addition to helping with ball movement, Tim Duncan has been pivotal for the Spurs when it comes to second chance points. Despite being 38 years old, Timmy has led the Spurs in offensive boards this year, averaging 2.8 per game in the playoffs. Keep in mind that the Spurs are generally not known for excelling in second chance points--they were ranked 26th in the league during the 2013-2014 season. Interestingly, his impact is particularly strong when Tony Parker is in the lineup--Timmy provides a 61% increase in second chance points when playing with Tony since the 2007-2008 playoffs. This makes sense since we often see Tim Duncan making key tip-ins or tap outs when Tony Parker fails to finish at the rim.

Tim is still the centerpiece of the Spurs offensively and defensively.

Can he still carry the team offensively exclusively? No but neither can Manu or Tony.

Its a more balanced system

Tony or Manu can get replaced by Mills, Joesph or Marco for a short period of time but Duncan is irreplaceable

As of right now, you have almost the entire Southwest Division in the Playoffs. That division is going to continue to give each other losses though...

It really makes me laugh when people on here highlight 1 phrase, taking it out of context to make a point and totally disregard the rest of said statement. Either their legit slow or love to argue.

Anyway that Gerald Henderson dunk was nice. We need to get back on track tonight.
