I think he used to actually care about the NBA when he first got to TNT and he'd actually watch every game and study it. These days he comes off as extremely lazy, worse than your typical message boarder who makes claims without actually watching games

I think he's having a lot of fun in life and it's taking a toll on him being an analyst. It's pretty obvious by a lot of the generalizations he makes

This.

I think if Shaq and Chuck actually watched the games and tried to analyze them - we'd be getting a much better show. You can tell they barely even watch the games on TNT. Same stuff every single time. They're funny sometimes so I guess that's earned him a lifetime contract with TNT. When he's actually trying to talk basketball, it's painful. I wonder if someone can splice together footage of him saying the same exact thing over and over.

I've never liked Charles Barkley . Even seeing him play at the end of his career I didn't like him.

Everyone been riding him forever now yall want to change up .
To me no matter how much I dislike him Hes entertaining tho even if I think he's an idiot.

chuck hated kobe and the lakers when we were good too. didnt he say the spurs are too old to win last year?

what teams does he actually like?
Gets paid to be obnoxious cause it's what people rather watch, don't think he thinks about most of the stuff he says... or he's just really obnoxious

It'd be very tiring watching all the games night in and night out and its simply not doable.  At some point in time, analyzing games becomes tiring and repetitive.  There's really nothing fresh that goes on saying the same thing in and out.  The show's purpose is to entertain and that's what it strives for.  The analysis comes from the commentators in the game itself, so nothing is lost.  A good balance for all.

Tim Ledger though.  Dude is on some legit bath salts.

Anybody got that gif of Shaq Knee Surfing that chair?  lol  Dude's a buffoon and a clown.  He'd be great in the WWF.

ya really think chuck takes this thing serious, it's all entertainment when he rustles those yimmies
once the lights are off, he gonna be golfing, drinking and gambling. not thinking about how many shots kobe takes, demarcus attitude, san antonio females, etc

Jus waitin for the day Shaq finally sets Chuck off and Chuck is gonna go after him lol. I know them two don't like each other. It's quite obvious.

Yep, and it works.

There's no front office in the league that would take Chuck. If he's burnt out and lazy about analyzing games once a week for TNT where he has to talk about bball for like 10 minutes max - imagine if it was his job. Not to entertain - but to actually help with basketball decisions. His thoughts on numbers and analytics are the nail in the coffin for any chance he had at a "front office life".

I feel like he needs his own radio show or something.

I dunno bout Charles as a coach, announcer, or analyst but he really was a helluva player. That'sthe most important thing about Charles Barkley. Charles always said he wasn't a "role model" lol if TNT don't want him once his contracts ends I really doubt he would care.

Radio can be a lot of work as well. Pretty hard to completely BS your way through 2 or 3 hours and make sure there's no dead air time. Some thought and preparation needs to go into it. So, Chuck may also be too lazy for that kind of gig.

Chuck is basically bored being an analyst, which is why they have him calling games once in awhile. I definitely agree with whoever said Chuck basically uses 90's basketball logic and tries to apply it to today's game. Nobody uses analytics solely to build a team. But analytics definitely is useful. Look at what Morey has done, finding guys, Landry, Chuck Hayes and Parsons, among others. Trading for Lowry even though the Rockets had Skip. Look at Lowry now. Breaking the bank for Lin and Asik, and then flipping them. Applying stipulations to acquired draft picks then flipping them for a Harden. The Pelicans pick for Asik. Etc. Morey's track record is proven. Finding guys, then unloading them when the time is right. It hasn't equated to much Rockets success, but while everybody is tanking to revamp their rosters, the Rockets have built their teams while competing. When you think the Rockets are gonna be a bottom dweller, they're in the mix for the 8th seed, or in this case, a top 4 team in the West. Ain't one soul thought the Rockets would be this good, so far. However, on the flip side, when you think the Rockets are potential contenders, (Yao+Mac, Dwight+Harden last year) they end up as a 4-5 seed then flame out. So it goes.

The thing that people completely miss about the Rockets is how effectively they rebuilt without ever "rebuilding". They lost TMac and Yao to injuries. Instead of having to destroy and rebuild. They stayed in the playoff hunt the ENTIRE time while gathering enough assets to make a move for James Harden and Dwight Howard. Whether they win a chip or not, it's not easy to build a contender without lottery luck. Houston fans have been watching a competitive team every single year. A lot of that is due to Morey finding gems in FA, the draft, and trades.

If every philosophy was judged by whether you win it all, 95% of the league would be full of failures. It also ignores how much Miami/SAS/Dallas is into analytics and numbers. Nearly every single coach in the league is into numbers and advanced stats too.
