. The only reason I know is due to the referee connection I have.
I bet players know then too. I don't think any players would make any fuss or any comments about a gay or bi-sexual official

I have never heard an athlete say about an official's career "this might not be for him", rookie ref or not

If someone has a quote from another situation, then I would definitely see it differently

True, but you can't say that he might not have said the same thing about a male referee under the same circumstances. Seems to me a little unfair to try and get in his head and conclude he only said that because it was a woman referee. If we assume that it was sexist just because it wasn a woman involved, isn't that stereotyping in it's own right?

Chris Paul was the main player campaigning for Michele Roberts as the new executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.

He's sexist tho......

Again, whether or not Paul is sexist, he probably isn't, he crying over some technicals? Questioning the person's career over technicals?

Man or woman ref, shut up Chris Paul

agreed, he may not be sexist but what he said def had sexist undertones. just a heat of the moment poor choice of wording that doesnt look too good in today's oversensitive culture

Good for the refs for sticking up for one of their own, but they don't seriously believe that out of bounds tech was justifed. :rolleyes

Paul simply questioned why she wasn't allowing them to get the ball in quickly...and he gets T'd up? Like I said, didn't cuss, didn't call her out of her name...nothing. That's some Joey Crawford vs The Spurs ish...

when you have been crying about calls all game its easier for a ref to hand you a tech

Again, he may not be sexist at all

What he said wasn't purely sexist just a little offbeat. Don't think you can absolve folks automatically of their actions/sayings because "he campaigned for a woman"

If the NBA goes through the playoff ranking system,  looks like Sac will finally make the playoffs once again.  I hope this  change happens, tired of seeing teams with 30 win records in the east making the playoffs. like to hear everyone take on this. I believe its a great decision

Kings would make it under the new system?

She made the call early in the 3rd Quarter (I think at the 10 minute mark) after a Matt Barnes technical that shouldn't have even been called? They weren't chirping at her for 3 1/2 quarters then she lost it. Come on now.

I'm not even a clipper fan but watching that I couldn't help but think the refs were getting a little out of hand.

Because he used the pronouns "she" and "her", that makes it offbeat?

Was he suppose to say "him" or "it".

Rookie refs gets criticized all the time.

like it or not theres a human aspect to reffing. if you want to get on a refs good side dont spend the entire season (and past couple years) constantly crying about calls and flopping

would be hilarious if something like this happened to them in the playoffs

Get off your knees Lauren, you're blowing the game. Apparently you can't use pronouns anymore. I hate what this world has become.

The key quote that is now being run with here is “this might not be for her”. HER! Illegal, because that’s SEXIST!  No, I only wish I were joking.  All he was saying is that she is a rookie ref and maybe, right now, she is in a little over her head. Projecting motive, that Chris Paul is talking about her refereeing  skills because she’s a female and not talking about referee skills because she, gasp, might just be a bad referee is such a joke. Ever had a job where you felt overwhelmed and tried to exude confidence when you have little? Yes of course, we all have. Well if you’re a ref it usually comes in the form of controlling the game and calling Technical fouls. The NBA has played roughly 1,500 games this season. There have been 486 Technical fouls called, or what comes out to be around 1 in every 3 games. There were FIVE technical fouls last night. Now I’ll admit, Matt Barnes is sort of a scumbag and Technical foul connoisseur, but saying simply that the moment may be too big and the whistle a little too tight is not wrong, it’s just stating a fact. She’s a rookie, I would expect a rookie ref to receive criticism.

Also, if we really want to get into facts here, Lauren Holtkamp is the same ref that made this call a few weeks ago. Tie game, and she fouls out Boogie Cousins on a complete obvious flop by Tyson Chandler.

That’s a really bad call. It has nothing to do with gender, it has to do with a rookie ref not understanding game situations and how the low post is played in 2015. A big moment when a ref needs to be at his/her absolute best and she blew it. It’s a bad call and it may illustrate that she is not ready for NBA refereeing not because of her gender but because she’s just not ready for NBA refereeing.

Was he suppose to say "him" or "it".

Rookie refs gets criticized all the time.
Officials get criticized every night, rookie or veteran. I'm just saying, I don't recall an athlete outright questioning if "this might not be for him or her". Regardless of the gender. If there have been cases like I said, I'd look at it entirely differently

Not in favor of new playoff format. If anything alignment would be more appropriate. Put New Orleans and Memphis in the East.
