I always hated him. When you play against a guy like him, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, you don’t like them because they’re so competitive. I respect that, but I don’t like playing against them. But when you’re on their team, it’s a whole different story. You love the people. They’re good guys.

I’ve got news for you, Chris: You’re going to hate Kobe at times even when he’s your teammate.

this journalist telling an nba player that has played with kobe that his first hand experience playing with kobe is wrong

I think that article is old. Kaman hadn't actually played with him for a full year yet when the interview happened. Looks like it was from October 2013.

I think last night was the first time Sanders-Jabari-Alphabet started together up front.

thought i posted this earlier under my faried quip

The Nuggets reportedly signed the forward to an offseason extension for public relations reasons and aren't really enamored with him as a player.

ESPN.com's Kevin Arnovitz has an in-depth, well-reported look at what's gone wrong with the Denver Nugets. At 2-7, they've been one of the worst teams in the NBA. With a roster devoid of stars and young talent, there doesn't appear to be much hope for the future.

The most notable revelation in the well-reported feature centers on Kenneth Faried, who signed a four-year, $50 million extension in the offseason. That was a deal the Nuggets wouldn't have offered in a perfect world, according to Arnovitz.

Several sources around the league insist the Nuggets' hand was forced with regard to Faried. After the signing of Hickson to a three-year, approximately $16 million contract soon after Connelly's arrival, the sense was the bouncy big man was insurance against Faried's departure in free agency in 2014. Faried was a fan favorite in Denver, but multiple sources with knowledge of the Nuggets' thinking maintain the team "isn't crazy about him," particularly Shaw. But with Faried's boffo showing last summer with Team USA and a loyal following in Denver, the media-conscious Nuggets caved, adding yet another imperfect 4-man to their lot.

"[Faried] is a helluva player and plays hard, but he isn't well liked [in the organization]," a league source said. "That gets glossed over. He says crazy s---. He thinks he's the guy, and other guys take exception to his contract."

Since signing the extension, Faried is averaging 12 points and 7.9 rebounds in 27 minutes per game. Per NBA.com, the Nuggets have been 15 points per 100 possessions worse when Faried has been on the court.

Pinning all of Denver's struggles on Faried would be unfair; as Arnovitz's piece points out, the front office is far from a high-functioning one. The problems all seem to be traced to the departure of former general manager Masai Ujiri and the firing of coach George Karl in May. Many believe the man tabbed by Josh Kroenke to replace Ujiri, Tim Connelly, is in over his head, according to Arnovitz.

"I'm not sure Tim can do the job," a league power broker, who has known Connelly for years, said. "He's the nicest guy you'll meet, but he's out of his depths, and you saw it with the [Kenneth] Faried mess."

"The Faried mess" refers to how the Nuggets initially leaked the deal as a five-year, $60 million extension, which isn't allowed under the CBA. The Nuggets and Faried needed to scramble to alter the terms of the agreement.

The Nuggets currently say they have no plans to hold a fire sale and begin tanking, but they soon may not have a choice.

steve blake, josh smith & now his own team

almost a yella beef

Stephen A. Smith only proved Sixers guard Michael Carter-Williams right.

Last week, Carter-Williams wrote a piece for The Players’ Tribune, in which he (foolishly) attempted to argue Philadelphia (0-9) wasn’t tanking another season for a high draft pick. In his criticism of the media’s coverage of the team, Carter-Williams singled out the ESPN personality as “playing a character.”

Here is an excerpt of the piece:

‘The media creates this narrative and repeats it over and over. That’s how Stephen A. Smith ends up in our locker room with a big smile on his face. I’m not picking on him. I know he’s playing a character. He knows he’s playing a character. But what happens when we break the streak by going out and beating Detroit that night? Now it’s another story. After the game, a lot of the reporters didn’t even stick around. The ones that did weren’t prepared. They didn’t ask us about the specifics of the game. They made up questions on the spot, like, “Uh, hey, you guys won … so how do you feel?” We weren’t the story anymore. They were on to the next thing. Stephen A. didn’t really stick around. I guess he had a plane to catch. Believe me, I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure he doesn’t come back for the same reason.’

Smith’s response? Predictably ridiculous.

Smith, who spent time covering the 76ers before joining ESPN, went on a rant against the second-year guard, threatening the 23-year-old with his all-powerful connections and high standing at the network.

“You’ve never going to have the last word over us,” Smith screeched Friday during a Sirius Radio interview, according to The Big Lead. “And you damn sure ain’t going to have the last word over me. I’m not going to start problems, but I can damn sure finish them. If these guys want to come at me, let them do it at their own peril. It will be a mistake.”

Smith is familiar with mistakes. He was suspended by ESPN in July for one week after making on-air comments about Ray Rice suggesting women are complicit in “provoking” domestic violence.

Speaking of Kidd, that Bucks team plays very good defense as expected.

Scoring wise though?

I really need Henson to get more minutes. It's like he's the father of Kidd's grandchild.
yea I hate how he doesn't play like that. I know last year he got minutes because Sanders was hurt but still

This explains why Kidd was asking for a raise from the Nets after 1 year of coaching and right after signing a 3 yr contract

Henson's offensive was coming along nicely too, a lot faster than Sanders. His confidence has to be shattered accumulating bench splinters. Hard for a young player to maintain confidence and positive energy in such a limited capacity.

Quote from Jeremy Lin in the 90-minute documentary 'Linsanity' (on Netflix).

He talks about how he coped with fracturing his right ankle the night before a semi-final playoff game in H.S. in Palo Alto:

“I remember my brother sent me this really long letter. He talks about how God gives and takes away. And so, God took what I really cared about at that time to show me that I can’t do what I want to do, I can’t accomplish what I want to accomplish without him. And that nothing in this world or in my life will happen that’s not according to his plan.”

... what?

Sorry. What does that even mean?

Because that sounds great...

Anybody seen this documentary?
