Nash is a very competitive dude, borderline stubborn/in-denial about his situation. It's clear as day his body just can't handle the rigors of the NBA anymore. When you watch his interviews you can just hear the denial in his voice. Props to him though, dude really just loves the game.

He has a back condition and he's 40

To a point, that is. Nash's back problems have left him a shell of himself. The two-time MVP's nerve root irritation, reported here by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, is a chronic condition that won't be cured and can only be controlled. It took the Lakers' medical staff almost half of the season just to get it under control. The fact that it's come back so quickly doesn't suggest it can be pushed aside easily.

If you think about it that's David Stern's fault. No way Nash should've won MVP those 2 yrs, Jason Kidd and Kobe were robbed.
