Hmph.

http://www.lakersnation.com/nba-age...-who-didnt-want-to-play-with-kobe/2014/10/20/

Clients didn't want to play w/ Kobe? Said that they become media pincushions & public whipping boys when things go bad? That's weird, why someone would NOT want to play w/ someone knowing they'll be the blame when things go wrong but the other person will get the credit if things go good.

That's... weird. I've been told people LINE UP to play alongside his greatness.

I just... I'm torn. Don't know what to believe, his loyal fans, or someone who actually has conversations with NBA players.

Will ponder.

^^^ That article is the first time I've seen Landry Field's name mentioned in forever. Honestly forgot all about him. I wonder if the Raptors are trying to move him? He doesn't seem to fit in there anymore.

he doesnt fit anywhere sadly :smh:

Abbott's article is a bunch of half-truths and exaggerations. Like I said in the Lakers thread, I rarely throw out the term "hater", but in Abbott's case it's warranted. He's the same guy that advocated players play dirty after Dahntay Jones hurt Kobe http://t.co/Ud7ksvFz1M and point out how selfish Kobe was over a top ten dunks list: http://t.co/8ldRC4ogen. Or the numerous he's not as clutch as people think articles he writes every season.

Bean The Villain. :pimp: :pimp:

Kobe has definitely had his moments where his selfishness effected the Lakers in a negative way but to say he's destroying them is hyperbole to the max.

Held that franchise together through some very lean years and was a consummate professional.

Not to mention he's generated more money for them than any other player in the history of the franchise, he's earned his stripes man.

Regarding the star players the Lakers have missed:

Dwight - Never matched with Kobe, yes. But he didn't want to be in LA in the first place (paging coupe88) and didn't like playing under D'Antoni.
LeBron - It was always Miami or Cleveland.
Melo - Decided to prioritize money and winning in New York over dealing with the unknown in LA/Chicago.
Paul George - Yeah, he was going to leave a max deal on the table to come to LA.
Ramon Sessions - Opted out to secured a longer deal, Lakers signed Nash on July 4 so there was no need to re-sign Sessions.

I wonder why Abbott didn't write how Pau, LO and Bynum re-signed with LA. Or Artest, Fish, etc. if Kobe was so toxic.

seriously what is the lakers legacy past the 80's if they dont draft kobe or if kobe was a bust?

Sessions aint no star and most people forget he even played in LA. he doesnt deserve to have his name mentioned with Kobe or the lakers IMO

i mean its either "what a fraud, this guy needs to team up with 12312 other superstars and take the easiest possible road to the finals every year" or "what a terrible human being, no other superstars want to play with him how selfish of him"

i dont get it, how can kobe only win championships because he is super lucky to have all these great teammates but no good players want to play with him :nerd:

What really good player has signed with the Lakers as a FA in the Kobe era? All the great players he played with either came in trade or were there before him.

(I'm not counting guys that re-signed with the Lakers while Kobe was there)

Jim Buss is a bigger problem for the Lakers and its not even close.
While he hasn't been perfect, I think he gets too much flack. I think being the son to Jerry Buss and being reserved has made him a target more than some of his misfires with Kupchak.

what really good player has signed with the cavs/heat as a FA in the lebron era?

what really good player has signed with the spurs as a FA in the duncan era?

its the same for all these all time greats, they have great organizations build great teams around them usually via trade. i dont see why there needs to be an article about how kobe doesnt attract big name free agents when none of these superstars do.

bulls drafted pip and traded for rodman, what really good player signed with the bulls as a FA in the jordan era?

The Nash deal and not trading Dwight were pretty huge blunders no matter which way you cut it.
