Lakers have to collect assets to be attractive to players and coaches.

The Lakers and the Mavs were in the exact same boat we just have a great coach and talked Dirk into talking pennies on the dollar.
Yep. Kudos on both.

We have Byron and 48.5.

Its over with after next year tho and its still the Lakers.

Julius+a top 5 picks and unlimited cap space is gonna be appealing a coach.

I do that already pops. I ride shotgun with Master P on the no limit tank. It's good to say worry about it later, but it's becoming more and more clear the picks aren't going to get this train rolling as quickly as some predicted. That's all. Not really arguing anything just stating my thoughts. And this front office seemingly having no initial plan let alone a contingency plan has ramped up my pessimism.

I hate to even say it........I may throw up.......maybe IF we keep top 5, Mitch deals it for someone.

Yeah......gonna vomit.

You wouldnt trade "Mr. 2015 Top5" for an established star to help get a player like KD? ( ala Wiggins -Love)

1 for 1? No.

Like Kal said tho, Bron came first, THEN you do Wiggins for Love. I see that. You could talk me into it.

If Marc Gasol came, and said deal top 5 for Durant, yeah I appease Marc and make that run.

But do I trade Top 5, and his 5 mil a year, for someone lesser than Durant (like Love) and pay him 18 mil? No, no way. Younger, cheaper, and less miles mean more to me.

Lot depends on the player. Have to eval everything. Think Russ injuries + salary. Boogie ticking bomb + salary. Steph and his ankles. Look at Bron, right now and his mileage. :nerd: 6 months ago people woulda traded anything, now look. He "might" be in some baaaaaaaaad shape.

Odometer's matter.

Only player I would trade any damn thing for is AD. Elite talent, low mileage, low contract. (For now  )

Like to see that with Randle and Paul George.

Since the rest, Kobe at 17/8.5/8 with much better shooting. Should help keep him fresher for next year.

Too bad we'll probably be stuck with Byron forever :smh: . Especially after seeing Backstage Lakers with Jeanie crying when he got hired.

He knows the "Laker way" :rolleyes

I see..

Just trying to guage how much value you guys put on this pick since most were adamant about not trading the 2014 pick for love.

Got nothing against the Mr. top5 He could be a franchise player.

I just wont root against the team plus i still believe when healthy this team is not that bad. ( im still going for my preseason prediction of 30-35 wins)

Oh god, never saw that :x

Yeah it all depends on the situation. There's a good chance that 2014 rumor would've been the last big domino; if it was one that led to another big domino (i.e. Wiggins-for-Love probably securing Lebron) people would've definitely felt differently.

   E.

Nobody said anything about the win in like 3 hours dude. Calm down.

We're discussing everything involving the team, Julius, picks, FA's, Coaching, Mitch. I barely even posted once about the Pacer game.

Calm down man.

It's not just you, but go back and read this thread after every single win. It becomes a **** show of whining.

I'm cool with a simple "We needed that loss." But every single time we win, it's a caldron of shouting about just any and everything. Most of which are nonsense.

On to the topic at hand.... Trading this pick. I would only consider it if it was like the Cavs situation, where we can afford to trade it. I wouldn't trade this pick to get the first piece because we can't afford to do so. Even if we were in the Cavs situation, I still may not make the trade because trading that Top 5 Pick for an established star (sans LeBron, KD, Russy, The Brow) will somehow come back and be a disaster somehow. There's enough empirical evidence going both way in that argument. I just think the money difference between the pick and a star makes me weary. Can keep the pick and still get an adequate star as well.

Eh. Let us finish in 6th place, 1 game from 5th, hand that pick on over to the Suns, then tell me each loss "was no big deal"

We need losses. A helluva lot more than wins. They are wasting their time trying to come back from 13 down to win games.

I've said it several times, when they come out on fire, can't miss, other team weary from the night before or whatever, and LA controls the game for 48 minutes, I'm good with that. Those happen. Earned wins, can't fault those.

But when we're getting beat down, and are down double digits in the second half, there is no good reason to come back, none at all. Take the L, let the kids play, move along.

Stealing wins is how you give away the 6th pick in the draft, in division, AND yet another first round pick 2 years later. For no absolute reason.

So, yeah, there should be some frustration about that, each, and every time.

So you wouldn't trade a top 5 pick in this Draft for a 26-28 Year old player in his Prime... (not borderline All Stars either, You named people top 3 at their position) because of former injuries... You do know that the chance of a Top 5 pick becoming an Average player is much higher than scoring a future MVP candidate right?

If ANY GM in the world is offered Russ/Steph/Cousins for their top 5 this year... it's going down in a heartbeat.

It's been proven stars will sign with young talent and cap space. Right now, they only have cap space slated since Randle is sidelined and the pick is 50/50 at this point.

At this point do you not think... A star would Rather sign with L.A Already Having Cousins & Randle their rather than having Randle & Top 5?

It's not like we're bringing in some 35 year old player.... At this time next year Cousins will be 25-26 & entering his Prime. Yes it's more money now, but bringing in a All around big man who has already proven he can put up 23 & 12 a game while still young > potential of yet another pick. History produces more Eddy Curry/ Tyson Chandler duo's than KD/ Westbrook

Oh, I would definitely accept Boogie for #5.

But that's not happening, so it's a moot point.

Edit:

They're more likely to get someone like Pekovic than Boogie. Is #5 worth Pek to you?

Eother Charlotte or Boston gets a win tonight.
Rockets at the Bulls, help us out Pau.
Indiana or Utah get a win tonight.
And MAYYYYYYYYBE Minnesota can get a win vs Denver, if not, no harm, need Denver to stay above us anyway.

Detroit plays at San Antonio, at Dallas the next two nights. :smh:

Least we play at Portland and at the Clippers to match them.

Wait don't tell me ya'll are really counting on the Houston Pick to be anything more than late to middle 20"s ?

Never understood why folks liked Kelly. Ever since he got here, he's been nothing but a disappointment from what I've seen.

Watch Lin, Boozer, and Young. They went through the motions of the play, but you could tell that they knew damn well there was no chance in hell they were getting that ball.
But Ryan Kelley is legit ready to catch and release.

Chris Paul came to the Clippers, why? Young studs, Blake and DeAndre Jordan. City, girls, weather helped. But young star helped bring CP3 on board.

Harden was 22-23, first year as a starter, Dwight joins he and Chandler Parsons.

Get the cheap talent, then you can spend on the expensive talent.

I know I'm old and forgetful...

But wasn't CP3 a Laker for 10 min...then the NBA dealt him to the clippers?

I think that's why CP3 came to the clippers...but I could be wrong.

CP3 has to "agree" to be dealt, in terms of extensions and such. He "agreed" to come to the Clippers, with the intent of staying long term, otherwise the Clippers never pull the trigger. He could have said "hellllllllllllllllllll no", I ain't stayin there, but he didn't, he agreed to the deal, and would sign an extension when the time came.

Think of us agreeing to trade for Dwight, WITHOUT a guarantee from him, thinking he would be foolish to leave us. Welp......

Chris Paul doesn't just join the Clippers for a good time, his whole reason for leaving the Hornets were they were a low market wasteland, and he wanted to compete for a title. He agreed to the Clippers, (of all teams) because why? Their historical nature?

He joined, because of a wonderkid and a few other young pieces that he knew he could help impact.
