According to espn Dallas rondo extremely unlikely to resign with mavs, eyes the lakers as his choice of team

Not trynna reach or splash, but I don't see what's so good about Kobe's interview these days.  They are rather excessive and repetitive.  He has nothing to do, no games to attend, as Mitch and Jeanie conglomerate buddies and editors are doing everything to make sure Kobe's name is still relevant.  I mean, why do people still put him on a pedestal?

What happened to journalists who DUG and DUG.  Where are the questions about him in Denver, the questions about him and his wife?  His kids?  His fight w/ Malone, his mindset when being jabbed by Childs.

Kobe getting grumpy cuz his team is out there playing while he's busy doing interviews?   Who the hell cares how Kobe feels.  It's not like he's out there with them.  Kelly Drywall and Mark Spearmint suck.

JC has been nice, but he is shooting 41%, so we can slow the hype a smidge. Need to see that tick up a few notches.

he's just a rookie, at least he's got the confidence to keep putting up those shots.

If he puts in work in the offseason, his %s will improve (this is true for pretty much all rookies

Since the Lakers are starting to win games and don't care about getting a Top 5 pick, at least we still have Ater Majok to build around with...

If we don't get a PG in the draft. While I hate the idea, there's some parts of me that wouldn't kill myself if Rondo was here (cue Mad TV "Lowered Expectations" picture)

So long as Rondo's 1st year is $10mil or less. If he's over $10mil in that first year, then we'd all agree that signing me is a better idea, at least I'd give some shine to NTLakers.

But with Rondo at $10mil at the most, and we move up in the draft (Rockets, Lakers 2nd, Clippers 2nd) to say 19. We may have something.

Rondo / Clarkson
Kobe / Swaggy
??? / Hollis-Jefferson
Randle / Kelly
Towns / Black / Sacre

Somewhere between $14.1 - 15.499mil in cap space (all depending on 1-4pick ), minus $540K for a missing roster hold

Which is short of the $17mil of less than 6 years experience based on $68mil salary cap

If we could somehow maneuver to having enough for a max cap slot for less than 6 year players (don't even need to use it, but to have it), I could sign off on Rondo. But that would take a lot of maneuvering to get that $2mil - $3.4mil more room. Hell I'd be fine if we didn't get Tobias, and instead Wes Matthews & re-sign Ed for the long term in that $17mil.

All for naught if we draft a PG.... *Crosses fingers*

the general trend for past their prime players is that shooting (and for post players, being tall) keeps them in the league while aspects of the game that require high energy tend to drop off quickly

guys like kidd, kobe, nash, mj were able to stay in the league at an old age because when all else fails they still could knock down shots and make up for all the young guards walking past them to the basket on the other side of the floor

rondo's greatest strength is his defense which will start to decline when we are able to sign him and he wont be able to rely on a jump shot to stay productive

he was fun to watch in his prime but i feel like he's going to age poorly and wont be worth one of our roster spots

I think there's something to that. Which is why I'd really rather not on him.

Why I want us to take a PG, and take this decision away from us.... Also because next 2 years of PG FA is incredibly weak, and we need to get in on the 20 teams that have PGs that are good.

But as he declines, we have a PG (Clarkson) that gradually takes all his minutes, and decrease his role.

All of this.

But grammatically correct.

So, "The general trend for past-their-prime players is that shooting (and for post players, being tall) keeps them in the league while aspects of the game that require high energy tend to drop off quickly.

There.

All of that.
