He's talented, has decent upside, and is probably better than anyone they'd get instead.

Are any of those reasons considered technicalities?

I like the hustle & effort being shown by this team.

What's really tough watching is seeing the Lakers have no defenders up front with Hill, Boozer, Davis, and Sacre :smh:

Teams like Phoenix are just going to murder us this season with pick & roll and having a layup drill on us all season :smh:

just someone who can actually contribute to the squad....at any position

kid was a cool story being the last pick and all getting to play for the lakers blah blah...

but hes not even a NBA level player imo, we payin him like $20 bucks right? Get this kid outta here

He can contribute at Center.

Nobody out there still available at Center who is better than him.

If there was, I'd immediately be for it.

He's probably our best big man defender behind Ed Davis. Haven't seen much of Ed, but I'm going to say he's the best. Not saying much, but he is solid defensively. Not going to get you blocks, but he holds his ground man to man, and rotates well.

JHill is the liability on defense, but we never hear much about that.

The Mamba is back !!

I seriously laugh at some people in this thread who predict and still think he's going to be a shell of himself and will average 17, 19, 20, 22, or 23 points this season :rolleyes

I would love to get proven wrong on that but one highlight tape of a preseason game isn't doing that

He looked sharp for three quarters though, no arguing that.

I actually really like what I'm seeing out of him. However, he isn't getting the same elevation he was getting in the 2012-2013 season (which I guess we have to come to gripes with), but more importantly he looks slower/can't get to the paint as easily.

However, keep in mind he never looks that great in preseason. And it is preseason after all. It'll take him a few months to get back to actual Kobe, if that's still possible.

And yea he got crossed badly by Burks, but overall Kobe's defense has been good. Hopefully he sustains that throughout the season (this I'm doubtful of, unless he's going up against another star

I like what I'm seeing out of him too. He looks great. His form and footwork will probably never go.

But he has a little less lift on his jumper and can't finish at the basket as well as old Kobe. Plus he's looked out of rhythm and forcing it for stretches of every game.

He can be a shell of old Kobe (one that can't attack the rim as well and scores less points) but still be a really good player.

Kobe looks a heck of lot better than when he rushed back and played only 6 games last season.

During that small stretch it was clear he was out of shape and he was barely even getting jumpers up.

Efficeny wise this pre season he hasn't shot well at all up until tonight's game.

But yeah it's only pre season. But just seeing him being clutch again in the 4th nailing shots and closing out games :pimp:

This. I mean it was a lost season anyway with dantoni

But I like what I see from kobe. Hopefully it's an all nba year for the mamba

I wonder if we can roll with Lin and Price as the PGs all season cuz we know nash ain't playin

Might need to consider cutting Ellington/Xavier for a PG

It would actually be good for Xavier to play PG if needed (if he ever fully makes it back). He might be a better option than the shoe thrower.

The lack of spacing might not be good for him, though.

Had very little to do with D'antoni. He was an easy scapegoat. I still to this day think if he was coaching OKC, they would be ridiculous.

I even think he's a better coach than Byron. The stuff the Lakers are running on offense, really doesn't make much sense to me. Literally no spacing, and it's setting up plays for long 2's. I don't mind midrange jumpers like most of analytics + the majority of the NBA, but taking long 2's should be a last option. Somehow it seems like all his actions want us taking long 2s.

But it's preseason and I'm not going to judge with a lot of players out. Simply having Lin out there helped a lot of the issues tonight, but still the offense looks sketchy.

I hope Byron proves me wrong.

And on Kobe, his elevation on jumpers looks like it's improving game by game. Looks very similar to what he was doing pre-injury. It's just his finishes around the rim, tentative nature on fast breaks, and ability to get to the rim all look shaky. It has a lot to do with him looking slow out there. The homer in me thinks he can get it back, but the realist in me thinks this is how he'll be. I do think we need to be patient with the guy though, it wont be instantaneous, he'll need until December.

I'm sorry but hell no in any way is Pringles was our ever will be a better coach then Byron Scott.

Byron won coach of the year one season. He took the fricking Nets to the Finals 2 straight years.

Pringles NEVER has and I seriously doubt will ever take a team with his run & gun style to the Finals.
