OFFICIAL 2015 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS OFF-SEASON THREAD (Lance, PP, Josh Smith, Aldrich - pretty nice l

Huge game from JJ. Awesome.

And, yes, hopefully the team now realizes what happens when the defend with a purpose. Matt Barnes' D today almost made me forget how inept he's been offensively .

JJ bicycle! :pimp:
Crawford :pimp:
DJ :pimp:
CP3 :pimp:
Barnes :pimp:

Dat Defense after the first 10 min of the game was so ******* beautiful. The closeouts and rotations were so damn crisp. Almost shed a single tear watching it.

Now do it Again.

Glad to read this. Didn't realize it was an afternoon game and completely forgot about it. Glad to see JJ find his shot again and, from the sound of it, sounds like the defense is coming around. Did JCrossover start in the 3 today?

Yes, he did and it did not go so well. We have up 38 points in the 1st quarter. But we won, so I guess it ultimately worked.

Let's see if we can build on the momentum from the last 3 quarters against the Blazers. Although inept defensively, I do prefer a starting lineup of crawford and reedick together. Hopefully Doc sticks with that going forward. Also saw the best Matt Barnes we've seen this year when he came off the bench.

Playing SAS is never an easy task but hopefully we can start to gain some traction and start to really take off here. Obviously JJ isn't going to score 30 every night, but I feel as though last game was important for his confidence and maybe he can turn the corner as well.

I'd like to think the game on Saturday was a sign of better things to come, but I'm not sure yet. Today should be a good indication.

Very nice 3.5 quarters last night; horrible final 5 minutes. A team with Doc as a coach and CP as point guard shouldn't be playing that panicky in close games. I guess it's a sign they still don't have a ton of confidence right now. And Blake, in particular, needs to be way more assertive in late game situations. If he really wants to step up to MVP level he needs to start delivering more consistently in the clutch.

Damn, just saw we don't play again until Saturday. Weird scheduling:

I was at the game and just like you mentioned was okay with the first 3.5 quarters. Its frustrating to see a team that SHOULD be good underperform. Blake finally wasn't settling for jumpshots but when he got a good look he still wouldn't take it which was super frustrating to watch. The wing continues to be a problem.

The guys just don't look like they care right now. In the past, they were playing for each other and now it just looks like business. Need something to shake up the roster or something because if the team is like this mid-season then it's gonna be a huge problem. After 7 games...i'm not TOO worried.

Almost said the same thing verbatim. I didn't like Blake not getting the ball at the end of games last year, and I really don't like that this year. Chris Paul is being defended by Leanord, and trying to finish over him and TD. Would much rather Blake go one on one or force a double and get some type of action off of that.

How we played up until the last 5 minutes however is very encouraging and going forward, should be something that they can continue to build upon. The Portland game, most of the SAS game, these are building marks that we can move forward with so i'm a bit more optimistic as far as the direction we're treading in moving forward.

Yeah, there's still plenty of work to be done, but things are starting to come together. The defense has looked markedly improved the last two games. JJ's shooting better. Barnes actually hit a couple 3s. Rebounding is still a problem though.

I'd hate to see Kobe have to go out as a player on a bottom barrel team. He deserves at least to have a playoff caliber team

OK, but is there a particular reason you came into a Clippers team thread to say that?

Damn team is struggling. I knew we were going to have a tough game but we are looking very mediocre right now.

I really don't get what's going on. They play great at times, but then have long stretches when it looks like they have no confidence or direction. No clue why that would be when its mostly the same players and the same head coach we had last season. Just weird. They better figure the **** out quickly though because there's not much margin for error in the West.

There has to be something going on...finally bringing back the same core and adding good support players and they just look terrible out there.

I think you may be right. Heard Don MacLean on the radio the other day that you don't usually get the listless, unfocused stretches like the Clippers have been having without something going on in the locker room.

Plus, Crawford, who is usually pretty upbeat tweeted this the other day -

Jamal Crawford @JCrossover

If it isn't one thing it's another..

He followed that up with retweeting a comment someone made like, "when's the last time Jamal Crawford played the last 3 and half minutes of a game and didn't take a shot?" He's since deleted that tweet, but still. There definitely seem to be some issues. Tonight should be interesting.

“I like going on the road. It’s an opportunity to find yourself.” - Doc Rivers → http://on.nba.com/11iqBwU

That better happen, Doc. Seriously.

Way to take care of business on the road against Orlando. One of the losses last year that came to bite us big time was to them. The hope is that this road trip can get this team into some type of rhythm, some type of synergy. Let's get a streak going, if we can get out of this road trip 5-2 then I would be extremely happy.

Agreed. I actually felt kind of glad they were going on the road, even though it's a long, tough trip. Felt it might help them get more focus. Good sign tonight for sure.

Everything looked good tonight. I need to see this team win a game when they don't shoot well from beyond the arc though. Heading in the right direction.

Don't count the Clippers out just yet.

Would be foolish to count them out after 10 games. There's quite a few teams that aren't looking as good as they were projected to coming out the gate. When the dust settles, they'll be right in the thick of contention for an NBA title. All about how this team is performing heading into the postseason.
