OFFICIAL 2015 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS OFF-SEASON THREAD (Lance, PP, Josh Smith, Aldrich - pretty nice l

My waiter at El Torito yesterday said that if DJ walks and we replace him with a guy on only a one year deal, we'd have the cap space to go after KD in 2017. Anyone else heard that? Doesn't sound right to me.

Doesn't sound right either...By the 2017 season comes around, we'll still have about 56M worth of contracts but without signing any of our players from here on out including Matt, Jamal, DJ, and JJ. I think a lot of people that don't really watch the Clippers don't realize how important DJ is to our system. I understand that a lot of people don't think he's a max player but there's no way we survive on defense without DJ.

Below is a list of players the Clips have a realistic shot of picking up in FA with the mid level exception. At the bench wing position, Alan Anderson and Aaron Aaflalo are intriguing. Would not surprise me to see Aaflalo take the mid level exception and come home to LA. Also, Koufos, Bass, Cassipi and Belinelli should be looked closely at.

C
Mo Speights
Kaman
Koufos
Brandon Wright
Seraphin
Baynes

PF
Bass
D. Arthur
Ed Davis
Jonas Jerebko
Jason Smith

SF
Luol Deng
Paul Pierce
Jay Crowder
Kyle Singler
Omri Cassipi

SG
Danny Green
Iman Shumpert
Marco Belinelli
Alan Anderson
Gary Neal
Aaron Aflaalo

PG
Aaron Brooks
Mo Gotti
Beno Udrih
CJ Watson

What I wouldn't give to have Danny Green on this side.

Aaron Afflalo looks to be a legit chance.

What about KJ McDaniels from Houston?

Brandon Wright intrigues me as a secondary big next to DJ.

Would not be opposed to beno or CJ Watson with the back up pg positions.

McDaniels has talent, but I'd prefer to go with someone more proven.

The Clippers will be holding a workout tomorrow with Aaron White (Iowa), David Kravish (Cal) Treveon Graham (VCU), Julian Washburn (UTEP)...

... Quinn Cook (Duke) and Ryan Boatright (Connecticut).

The Clippers don't currently own a draft pick in this year's draft but I'm hearing they will look to add a second round pick on draft night.

Realistically I wonder if Koufous would sign for the MLE? He's made $15 million career...

I think that would be a nice fit, but I question if it's realistic. A lot of the names on that list, IMO, are not realistic options

Depending on McGee's market, I would sign him in a heartbeat on the low

Yahoo Sources: Clippers, Hornets discussing a trade centered on Lance Stephenson. http://yhoo.it/1C9tDjn

Supposedly we'd be giving Charlotte Hawes and Barnes. I don't like it, especially with DJ's status up in the air. Ugh, Doc.

Oh boy...idk bout this one. Lance can't play the 3....and he damn sure can't play without the ball in his hands. Not interested.

This has to mean that paul pierce is coming tbh he wouldn't make this trade without some sort of guarantee that a 3 would be coming.

WIsh Jamal was in this deal man. Jamal, lance, and austin all on the same team

Dawg just the mere thought of Jamal, Lantz and Austin taking consecutive positions dribbling the ball for 20 seconds is making my head hurt lol.

Only positive is getting rid of Hawes contract...and Lance has a 2 year deal with a team option after this upcoming year so they can let him go as well...and Jamal off the books. Clips should be a major player in Free agency 2016

The Hornets are likely to waive Barnes after the trade. What are the rules regarding us re-signing him after that happens?

I'm in the minority but I like it.

We are at the stage where we have to take risks to increase our ceiling.  Doing so and getting back a team friendly contract without giving up picks is the really the best you can ask for.

We know about all the negatives but Lance can rebound, defend, pass, get to the cup and is athletic.

He's a two-way player that adds a new and much needed dimension to the team.

Doc is supposedly a "leader of men" so he of all people be should able to corral Lance.  If it doesn't work, you decline his options and move on.

Wish we could have keep traded Crawford instead of Barnes, but he's 35 and Doc has a man-crush on Jamal and has always been looking to trade Matt, so it is what it is.

Agree with essentially everything you said. His shooting worries me though. He shot like 10% from deep. Hopefully with cp3 and blake and the likes, he can get back to being a 2 way player

If Lance can revert to Indy days, huge win for Clips.

But.... This also has a huge combustible factor that could really derail the team.

Barnes is a solid back-up SF. The problem is that he's been our starter for the past 2 years. I blame Doc more for that than Matt.
