We're officially locked in to play the Raptors in the first round, gonna need the same aggressive Beal as of late and a miracle from the bench to pull out even 2 wins. I got no faith in Nene discovering the fountain of youth and being able to stop stretch 4's for us to win the series, hope I'm proven wrong

Have no doubts about Wall, he's been ready for the playoffs for the last month. Everyone else needs to get on board

Beal and Gortat are who i'm worried the most about Nene showed up against the bulls last postseason

Also if Wall plays to his normal capacity in the playoffs we should reach the conference finals less the Hawks carry their domination

^agree. Raptors OWN us.

Kind of want this first round exit if it will get Randy and Ernie outta here, although i seriously doubt it.

There's always next year.

Yup...it doesn't look good going forward, but there may be a silver lining if we're bounced in round 1.

This is what I said in the NBA thread yesterday:

Kinda "meh" right now as a Wizards fan. On one hand, I'm happy we're in the playoffs, but on the other, this season was a dud. For a minute, eclipsing 50 wins wasn't out of the realm of possibility. Then Wittman started to do Wittman things.

While I want the team to do as well as possible, I fear that any sort of sustained run in the playoffs...meaning a series win, or beyond, all but assures that both Wittman and Grunfeld will be retained.

It seems to be obvious to the fanbase and national media (not so much local) that changes are needed throughout the front office and the coaching staff. This team has pieces. Pieces that could win 50+ games if the offense is opened up. Wall/Beal are truly being held back by inept coaching and I hope this is recognized by those in charge of hiring/firing.

While I'd be happy with a first round win, I'd also be a bit uneasy due to the idea that we'll have the same coaching staff as well as EG most likely back in the fold.

What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Welp, that's the Wizards in a nutshell if they don't change things up

yeah who really cares about the second round unless something crazy happens this team ceiling isn't that high, so a bad showing in the playoffs might open up Ted's eyes to make the necessary changes in the front office.

mrtarheel mrtarheel , you're 100% right.

I think a first round loss would be the best thing for this team going forward. Pains me to say that as a fan, because ultimately I want nothing more than success for the Wizards....however, I think we can all see the ceiling of this team with both EG and Randy at the helm.

I want to be excited as well, but I don't want us to become the Atlanta Hawks either. Where we make the playoffs every year with no real chance of winning a championship.

Although seemingly every casual fan and commentator attributed the Wizards' catastrophic 2015 slide to Randy Wittman (holder of the league's worst winning percentage), and countless observers have compared the Wizards' current situation to that of the Warriors under Mark Jackson, it probably will take a definitive first round loss (4-0, 4-1) to force a coaching change.

Even then, I suspect Ernie will be spared.  Let's face it: we're still stuck with a cheap owner.  That's the reason we have Wittman in the first place.  He won't make two major personnel changes in one year, and there aren't many coaches out there who could or would command a dual title.

The only thing Ted's proven is that he represents superficial change.  Rather than improve the team's infrastructure, we'll get red paint in the arena and a few new logos.

Speaking of which, while anything would be preferable to the old Wizards primary logo (because what's more intimidating than an old man awkwardly contorted into the shape of a W?) I still think the new logo misses the mark.

They haven't really taken into account how a primary logo is used.  A primary logo has to be iconic.  This one, with all the added cruft and embellishment, is a total mess at anything other than full size.

Look at how it shows up in the scores section of NBA.com:

What is that?  A life preserver?

This should have been the primary:

I shouldn't be surprised that an organization so lacking in perspective would develop a logo that's only effective up close.  Why should our logo be any different than our offense?

Felt the same way about the logo. It has secondary logo written all over it, but as a primary?

Guess it's the Raptors

I can't handle the DC logo though. From far away it looks like a wiener. I do agree that the ball logo with the monument in it is really busy. But i like it way better than the DC reaching for the ball

At least in 5 years we can wear the og wiz jersey as throwbacks. With the super stupid old man W logo

not feeling the logo at all, it's damn near the same template as the Nets. Until we switch back to the bullets I'll never like the logo

as for the playoffs, while I agree with the sentiment in here that a first round exit will be good in the long run I have no faith in this front office, why should I believe they'll do something drastic and fire Wittman and Ernie? I think the Raptors will win in 6 barring Paul Pierce and Nene discovering a Lazarus pit. Teams that shoot threes are our kryptonite, Toronto always fires them up against us and I expect them to keep doing so

Just got tickets for Game 3. Definitely an impulse buy but screw it. Raptors have had our number during the regular season but the playoffs are different. Series can go either way but I see it going at least 6 games.

I still believe in the Wiz, Wizards in 7 for me, we were doubted against the Bulls last year as well

But why is game 2 on NBATV, dont tell me we are gonna be THAT series
