Kevin Martin has NEVER helped a team get better... Yes he can score but he's made of glass & is only useful on offense. Giving up Porter for him would be a bad idea. This team should not get desperate & start trading young for vets.

I think a trade for Evan Fornier or Ben Gordon would be good. Orl is in the midst of a coaching change they have Peyton, Dipo, they can spare a guard.

Also a guy like Affaulo would be major but i don't think the Wiz have the pieces to get that done. I think the most realistic option available is Jarett Jack... he's has a pretty decent size contract is over 30 and the Nets have no future plans for him... Maybe Dre, Blair and a second rounder gets it done?

Just under NO circumstance do you give up Porter for a backup Pg

The LAST thing I want to see is some panic move like trading an asset for a guy like Kevin Martin.

This is obviously a style of play issue.  Players have lost faith in the offense.  We must lead the league in broken plays.  The defensive numbers we're achieving are largely a product of pace.  This team, with John Wall at the helm, is for some reason running a plodding, Fratello era flex offense.  If they aren't creating turnovers, they're sunk.

There's talent on this roster - though it should be obvious to ALL by now that Grunfeld may have erred in assembling the oldest team in the league.

Our players should be evaluated in the context of whatever system is being implemented NEXT season by a COMPETENT NBA head coach.

I've been frustrated with Randy for a long time, and the refrain from his supporters has always been "but John went to bat for him."  I don't see that happening this summer.  We missed the boat on hiring a real head coach and we're paying the price now.  This was OUR TURN.  We sat through Miami, then Orlando, then Miami again.  We were next in line in the Southeast.  We stuck with Randy, Atlanta went out and made a great hire.  They leapfrogged us.  There can be no other interpretation.

Cleaning up Randy's mess by mortgaging what little future growth potential this roster has is the single WORST thing we could possibly do this year.  This is not a roster that's a shooting guard away from an NBA title, unless that shooting guard is a young Michael Jeffrey Jordan.  This is certainly not a roster that's a Kevin Martin away from an NBA title.

This is a roster that's now headed for another 4-5 matchup, possibly with Chicago again.  (We should be so lucky.)

This should've been our opportunity to get a good look at GR Jr.  We threw him away for nothing.  For "rumors" of some future buyout.  For a chance to bid on Ray Allen's corpse.

If you're the owner of this team, you do not allow management to make a panic move.  A GM in fear for their job has little to lose by taking a big risk.  It's house money.  If it doesn't work out, they're fired anyway.  These guys have made their bed.  Let their replacements have the opportunity to evaluate and adapt the roster to fit whichever system represents the FUTURE of this franchise - because it's NOT going to be Randy Wittman's 1970's college offense.

Maybe we did make a mistake sticking with Randy, and this is coming from a guy who always said we should stick with him, but I say we let him play out this season and see what happens

Regardless, this is a good team and its the first in ages, firing our coach would def not go great over with the players ala the warriors with Mark Jackson, but i feel like we should keep him unless we find a surefire Grade A coach that we know can bring whats missing

I wanna see if we takes steps forward where it matters in the playoffs, plus thats where our style of play will really shine through

In the NBA, winning cures all ills.  Whichever Warriors players were disappointed by Marc Jackson's ouster (obviously not Bogut), it's fair to say that they are ALL on board with Steve Kerr right now.  Even those who've seen their roles reduced, like David Lee, seem comfortable riding this season out.

Anyone still backing Randy would get over it in a hurry if the new system gets results.  (And, at this point, how could it not?)  If you listen to Randy in the postgame, he's starting to throw guys under the bus.  He blames the team's fourth quarter failures on selfish individual play, on guys "going for theirs."  Nonsense.  When the offense sputters, what's left?  What we're seeing is guys losing faith with the system.

The Wizards made some great strides earlier this year, and one five game losing streak shouldn't be construed as apocalyptic, but it seems clear that we've topped out with Randy.  The Wizards will never contend while "running" this slow motion offense.

Honestly, I wouldn't stop with Randy, either.  Our big free agent acquisition this summer came courtesy of Sam Cassell, not Ernie Grunfeld.  Ernie's the one who drafted Vesely over Klay Thompson.  He's the one who refused to trade Bradley Beal for MVP candidate James Harden.  (And say what you want about a Wall/Harden pairing not working - if Houston wanted to flip Harden tomorrow they could demand a king's ransom.)  He's the one who thought it would be a great idea to pair arguably the league's fastest point guard with oldest, slowest supporting cast since Coccoon.

Everyone now agrees that we needed to clear the roster of knuckleheads in order for the Wizards to become a winning team.  To become elite, the same type of housecleaning needs to occur upstairs.  If you want to keep the KD pipe dream alive, rest assured that he's not leaving OKC to play in Randy Wittman's 86 point "screen the screener, brick the tweener" jamboree with a bunch of pensioners.

Call me crazy but I'm still not ready to go into panic mode. I see a team that has hit a wall and is in desperate need of a break. The bench is certainly in need of some help tho.

All the Randy hate, but who at this point do you get as a replacement? Season almost over. Is it smart to change coaches at this point?

No coach you'd want to get would be willing to step in mid-season.  You need a full training camp.

As implied by the highlighted line, I don't want to see any panic trades by the front office as I think we're better served evaluating the roster in the context of the system we'll be running NEXT season.

At this point I think we really just need a better bench PG and a scoring wing.. The talent is there, but our starters are getting tired.

The silver lining in Brad Beal being injury prone is that he's losing his leverage for a max deal. We'll probably be able to keep him on a bargain the same way Golden State lucked up w/  Steph Curry.

Everything the author says about Dejaun Blair and Wittman is 1000% truth

http://www.truthaboutit.net/2015/02/dc-council-game-51-wizards-87-at-hornets-94.html

Wittman's rotations and stubbornness to tell this team to shoot threes is what's killing us the most. This "Princeton" offense does not cut it with unathletic corpses on our roster. I don't want a panic trade of a young assett for someone like Kevin Martin, just snap this streak and change the damn philosophy.

We must win tonight

Every time Steve Buckhantz told viewers that DeJuan Blair had given the Wizards “quality minutes” against the Hornets, a unicorn in Narnia coughed suddenly and dropped dead.

The top eight teams in 3-point attempts per game are all ahead of Washington in wins and win percentage... [T]hose teams emphasize the 3-point shot because basic math, a basic comprehension of numbers, the basic ability to look at your hands and recognize how many fingers you have, will tell you that three is more than two.

Article was full of -s and truth. But I like the point you guys made with Kerr, Jackson, and the Warriors. I respect what Wittman has brought to this team and that key players have his back. But this offense has bothered me for a while. And if Wittman has to go in order for this team to become a true contender, so be it. I just dont know what coaches are out there that can help us make that leap.

Don't care who loses minutes...Wittman needs to carve out at least 20 minutes per night for Otto. He's a plus EVERY time he's on the floor.

Breathe easy, fellas...

Looks like a completely different team tonight, welcoming sight to see

I swear if we blow this lead bruh

Post that gif bruh

Regardless of the opinions of everyone in this thread i feel we should ride out this season with Whitman

If at the end of the season brass feels this team has reached its ceiling with the coaching staff, we get rid of him for one of for sure the prime free agent coaches, Alvin Gentry for sure

I agree. I don't think you switch coaches mid season. But i don't see us getting any further then we did last year in the playoffs. So i think once that happens you use that as the excuse to find a new coach

I'd be dissapointed if we didnt gun for Alvin Gentry if we are to get rid of whitman at seasons end

I also would be lying if i didnt say im mad we didnt trade for mo williams, to me it feels like he coulda been good for us too

Dropped all the way to 5th place because of that loss and does anyone think the Cavs or Bulls will have a letdown? I don't

That 50 win goal is starting to look unlikely
