Last shot drawn up for Rasual Butler (but Wall took it)...all that needs to be said about getting another scorer on this roster.

Lack of scorers will haunt us in the playoffs,, but our bigs should get us out the 1st round at least

I don't know why we drew up a 3 to win. Butler came off a screen for what was looking like an obvious 3 attempt. But he was well covered so John took a 3.
Why not drive to the lane? We were only down 2

Nene stayed in the lane on that last play, and it baffled me that he didn't pop out to set a screen. That last play was emblematic of this recent stretch /struggles. The all star break can't come fast enough. Hopefully Beal can heal up a bit, and the team can regroup and get back to playing the way we're capable of playing (solid offensive sets, followed by Great defense. And Repeat.)

Trade Targets: Will Ernie Grunfeld make a move for Arron Afflalo?

Also, with Brad Beal....he's had a "meh" year, but I have to keep reminding myself that he's ONLY 21 and still the youngest guy on the roster (even with a year of college under his belt). If he can learn to create off the dribble, he's going to really take his game to the next level. Going forward, I think he should be at worst, a 20ppg scorer next season. I thought this would be the year for him to break out, but it just hasn't happened yet. I'm not down on him because I think he has a ridiculous upside. By 25, there is no reason to think that he won't be in the top-3 at the 2-guard spot by then.

No.  Afflalo has a $7.75 million player option for next season.  I'm not convinced that he adds that much value over a moderately paid substitute.

The Wizards are right at the cap as it is, and Ted's been reluctant to dip into the luxury tax, to put it kindly.

The salaries you'd need to give up to make such a deal work under the cap would be substantial.  They'd need to take on Martell Webster and another player (perhaps Blair), but both of those guys are on the books through next year as well.  If you're Denver, you're taking on not one, but TWO players you don't want just to get back a late first.  Remember, their frontcourt was crowded enough to dump Mozgov.  I don't think they want Blair - and they certainly don't want Miller back.

Martell + father time + our #1 might be more palatable, but, again, you're giving up a first and a whopping $7.75 million next year for a bench player.  That makes no sense.  It puts us out of free agent contention, and we CLEARLY need a new backup point guard - plus we either need to resign Kevin or replace him as well, which won't be done on the cheap.

GR Jr. may not have been our savior, but wouldn't he have been worth a LOOK during this stretch?  There are dentists making more money than he was owed for the second half of the year.

The big picture future of this team is more important than getting to the second round.  An Afflalo move does not put this team over the top.  If anything, it would only thin us out further next season when we can't afford a serviceable backup point or center.  We've spent ENOUGH on underwhelming backup wings.  This is like taking a skin graft from your face to cover up a wound on your back.

I'd rather see management sift through the buyout bin or pick somebody up from overseas once the CBA season ends.  The last thing we need is to mortgage our future to nudge the margin of defeat up a few points.

Idk man, theres alot of spots we need to clean up i cant really say im happy with our backup pg our lack of a scorer off the bench, and the list goes on

Why can we never beat the Raps

Would've rather had Jack.
Would've rather kept Glen Rice, Jr.

Would've rather signed someone from overseas.

Would've rather waited for a buyout.

Someone explain this one to me.  Giving up Andre Miller doesn't matter, as (surprise surprise) he's been a liability this year and was in the last year of his deal.  Taking Sessions back, however, doesn't accomplish anything AND he's on the books next year for $2.1 million.  That's more Rice made by a wide margin, and more than it would've required to keep him here.

It's also worth noting that Sessions is shooting a whopping 34% this season, and 21% from three point range.  What's the point?

Is this the extent of Grunfeld's vision?  "Scouting" means watching his own team play?

This is a guy who killed us six years ago when he was with the Bucks.  That's about it.

And I thought the Will Bynum rumors were sad...

As far as I'm concerned, this isn't an improvement.  It's a wasted roster spot.

Nothing is compromised for '16 (yet), and though it may be looked at by some as a lateral move, Sessions SHOULD be a better contributor for this team than Miller was (this season).

As stated on BF:

While we'll be sad to see The Professor go, this was a necessary move for the Wizards. Without adequate spacing Miller, just doesn't have the athleticism to make the bench offense work. Though Sessions may not provide the same court vision or hoops IQ as Miller, he can force defenses to adjust to his driving ability. Given the bench's struggles, it would be hard for Sessions to make things much worse than they already were.

Also, and hopefully like it was in Miller's case when the Wizards acquired him last year, I'm x'ing my fingers that Sessions can step up his play now that he's on a better team.

On top of it all, the team STILL has an open roster spot, so it's not like they can't go out and get Bynum, Brown, etc.

Also, the GRJR ship has sailed...if he was that worthy of being a developmental project, he'd be picked up by now. Dude obviously has potential (no Geico), but there's a reason he's currently toiling in the NBDL instead of being on an NBA roster.

You can get better players to fill a roster spot that's now guaranteed (barring waiver) to Sessions.

If the best argument for Sessions is "he's a warm body," it must be said that you don't have to complete a trade to accomplish that, let alone to trade for a player who isn't performing to his current contract value.

If you're taking a flier on a guy, go low risk high reward, not no risk, no reward.  If Miller couldn't return to form, what hope does Sessions have?  What's he going to find here that he couldn't find in his last five stops?  There's no upside to this.  If there's a reason that nobody's picked up Rice, there's a reason why Sessions can't stick to a roster for more than 9 months.  Yes, you know what you're getting, but what you're getting is guaranteed disappointment.

All that's being suggested is "he can't make things worse."  I disagree.  If you have an empty roster spot, your options aren't limited to whatever NBA flotsam someone's willing to kick your way.  There are literally thousands of possibilities.  I refuse to believe that Sessions was the best one - not this year and CERTAINLY not next.

The "drive and kick" theory for Sessions seems based on what counted for his glory days rather than his current season.  Even so, let's pretend that's Ernie's plan.  Our biggest threat in the second unit is the 1:4 probability that Kevin Seraphin will have it going.  Kevin is a back to the basket guy.  He needs his space and he attracts a certain degree of attention.  That's not going to create great driving lanes for Sessions.

If he dumps it in to Kevin, he's a non-threat from deep.  (Again, averaging just north of 20% from distance.)  Why wouldn't teams just pack the paint?  Sessions has been such a poor shooter this season, there's no risk in playing under on everything.

You're not going to push the tempo with Kevin out there anyway.  Miller's biggest problem wasn't offense, it was DEFENSE.  That second unit was getting lit up.  Perhaps that's why the Wizards were resistant to the idea of adding Nate Robinson, but at he least he's a guy who would help spread the floor.  Sessions doesn't add anything, except 2015-2016 salary.

This was change for the sake of change.  It's a pointless trade that won't move the needle for this team.  Ramon Sessions will not fix the bench.  Ramon Sessions will not get you past Atlanta, Cleveland, or Toronto.

Sessions, at this point, will be able to relieve Wall for longer spurts than Miller. Miller, has been a non-factor for the past couple of weeks. If we don't want to run the risk of wearing Wall out before the playoffs, something had to be done.

Trust me, I, in no way, think that this is a move that is going to catapult the Wizards over the likes of Cleveland, Chicago, Toronto, etc. However, I do think that this move makes the Wizards marginally better. We have, what? 30 minutes left in the deadline? I'd be surprised if the Wizards are done dealing. I'm more comfortable with Sessions as the backup PG than Miller, but the bar ain't too high. I don't know what it would take to land Jarrett Jack, but let's hope that the Wizards have an ace up their sleeve to continue to address the backup guard spot.

If it's not Jack, then use the open roster spot for Bynum, Robinson, etc.

With Garnett headed to the wolves, is there any chance for jack? Was hearing twitter rumors about a possible 3 team trade involving The nets, Wiz and Wolves.

Meanwhile, Dragic to Heat and Reggie Jackson to Pistons rumored....

I just read that only 500K of Jack's 16/17 salary is guaranteed....

If the Wizards are negotiating w/ BK, I REAAAALY hope EG doesn't include a future 1st or Porter to get the deal done.

Just looked up Sessions' stats this season, and WOW he's been terrible this year

Honestly I would rather have Andre to finish the season out, then find his replacement through the draft or free agency. The more I examine this move, the more I scratch my head. We'd rather have Sessions over Nate Robinson? We needed a sparkplug off the bench, someone who can generate their own shot. Not someone who can't shoot the ball with someone creating it for him.
