Why have we ignored the presence of ghostwriters in rap? From my POV, It seems like the collective thought process among fans is that everybody is writing their own **** and that producer-rappers are the only ones who are getting raps written for them.
I find this ridiculous because for a few rappers the signs are clearly there. Take Lil Wayne for example...there's clearly a huge difference lyrically from what he's doing now and what he did in 03-07. Its not just laziness.
Drake has also been long rumored to not be responsible for 100% of his rhymes either and people shoot it down as if that's blasphemous or something. I've heard it from people in the industry that also have nothing to gain from lying about it.
The entire idea behind ghostwriting is that someone who is an excellent rapper but lacks the image, work ethic, charisma, etc...can pull the strings for someone who doesn't lack in those areas. In an era where image matters more than skills, why don't we believe that there are some major artists out there who are getting their raps written by somebody else?
