A new Ghostbusters film featuring an all-female cast is officially on the way. Paul Feig, creator of Freaks & Geeks and director of Bridesmaids, confirmed on Twitter that he is penning the film alongside Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold.
For years, Ghostbusters 3 has been stuck in developmental hell, mostly due to Bill Murray’s reluctance to participate in another film. However, Dr. Venkman himself recently gave his stamp of approval on an all-female Ghostbusters, naming Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone, and Linda Cardellini as his personal casting picks.

According to SlashFilm, it’s unclear whether Feig’s Ghostbusters film will connect to the series, and no casting decisions have been made yet.

U aint like the heat

Nope... or Bridesmaids aka Bootleg Female Hangover. Both of which were Paul Feig Films.... As is this upcoming Ghostbusters movie.

If she is cast for Ghostbusters, and it's looking extremely that likely she will be, I'll be expecting her usual "BEING FAT SO FUNNY LMAO" schick.

Needless to say, I don't have high hopes for this movie.

I think she is very funny and I don't her using her weight that much to get laughs.

She has great comedic timing, and she plays a very different role in her sitcom, so she has proven not to be one dimensional.

I think she is one of the few actresses that can be funny without it being all writing, her delivery is flawless at times. It think she deserves all the hype around her.

I'm down. It'll be interesting to see who is cast. I wouldn't take Bill Murray's personal picks to heart.

I guarantee there will be a scene where Melissa McCarthy farts/burps.

It'll be in the trailer too.

Cardellini/Stone/Wiig are fine choices but I don't think McCarthy is worthy at all.
