What's up fam, just trying to get your input on whether or not I should join a fraternity. I would like to hear your pros and cons.

A little about me:
-I'm 25 (most members are like 21)
-This is my first semester as a transfer student ( junior)
-No Job (by choice, haven't really been looking)
-Started hitting the gym so I could lose weight (kinda ironic if I'm going to be drinking a lot)

I rushed on Monday just out of curiosity and I got my bid to join today. All the members are real cool, I get along with them GREAT. I don't know if this is the time in my life to be partying tho. My main focus is just to finish school since I been delaying it for years.
ALL INPUT/EXPERIENCE is highly appreciated.

Just for security purposes, I won't post what fraternity it is tho.
Thanks

Nope. Frats are cool freshman and sophomore year when you're not 21 and have nowhere to drink.

Then everyone realizes they're lame. This is how it is at my school at least. And most of the girls at your parties will be 18 year old teeny boppers who were born in 1996. Think about that....

If you're in to that sus hazing stuff sure go ahead.

25 is too old to be joining one imo  Like aren't most ppl at that age alumni?

Basically.

Everyone I knew in a frat (and sorority, for that matter) was dying to get out after two years. Had a guy move into my house who broke his rental agreement (had to live there two years) because he was just over it.

you are gonna get a bunch of 18 year old girls who get creeped out that you are 25

killing the chances for P by doing this; go smash the 21+ crowd

no Van Wilder just get your degree and party at the bars

Exactly. People too invested into this college "experience". A frat won't make your college experience any better. Way too time consuming

Go to class, get your degree, and drink while you're at it.

i know some guys that take 2 inches into the exit.

some guys get tackled and paddled continously because he sneezed.

and at the end of it all you guys can all be friends!!!

Literally paying thousands of dollars in membership dues just to make "friends".

Put yourself your there and make friends who like you for you. srs

If it's for you, it's for you. If it's not, it's not.

That's the only way to put it. Some people think that it's idiotic and pathetic to have your peers beat the daylights out of you, have you run their errands and humiliate you in the name of "Tradition". However, some people honor and respect this same tradition.

No one can tell you whether or not you should join except you.

you have the half of NTers that never pledged a day in their lives claiming that fraternities are stupid and "paying for friends".

then you have the other half that gets so brain washed and think that fraternity life is the epitome of college life.

I'm in a fraternity; and although I have had some crazy/great memories being with my fraternity brothers; i have tons of friends that are non-greeks that also had a killer time.

College is what you make of it.

Personally, I think you're a little bit too old to be pledging..especially since you have a high chance of having some youngins in your pledge class.

at 25, it might be better to just focus on getting your degree ASAP and onto the next chapter of your life.

Also depends where you go to school. Frats in the north are 100% different from the frats in the south

There's a guy I work with who thinks he's untouchable bc he is in a frat. I found out he did the elephant walk in his frat and when I mention it to him he becomes like a differect person and is obviously scarred by it. I have people asknow him about it and his reaction is so priceless. Have fun with that, brah.
