DJ Quik "The Midnight Life" Release Date, Cover Art, Tracklist & Stream
UPDATE #2: Stream DJ Quik's "The Midnight Life" album.

DJ Quik is scheduled to release his The Midnight Life album October 14, according to a press release.

The ninth album from the platinum rapper-producer is set to be released through his Mad Science label in conjunction with INgrooves Music Group.

"This album is my ode to having fun in the midnight hour,” the Compton, California rapper says of his new LP. "That's the best time for making music in my opinion. It's quiet, especially if you're in a recording studio. You can hear everything and you know everybody's asleep. You can sneak and do your best work.”

Suga Free and Dom Kennedy join DJ Quik on The Midnight Life single "Life Jacket.” Other songs on the collection are said to include “**** All Night,” “Quik’s Groove 9” and “Bacon’s Groove.” Beyond Suga Free and Dom Kennedy, guests on the project are set to include El Debarge, Bishop Lamont, Mack 10, Tay F 3rd and Tweed Cadillac.

DJ Quik was also recently announced as a headliner at the Sunset Strip Music Festival, which is slated to take place Saturday (September 20) and Sunday (September 21) in Los Angeles.

The Midnight Life tracklist is as follows:

1. Intro

3. Back That **** Up feat. Tay F 3rd & David Blake II (D. Blake, D. Kim, D. Blake II)

West Coast. Been in the game for years. His importance for west coast music is underrated. You always hear Dre, Snoop and Tupac. Look at the credits for All Eyez on me. He engineered most of that album. He was given credit under his government name.

If you aren't a fan of west coast music, this might not be for you. Very old west coast feel to it. :smokin

I need to do my research in Quik. I haven't heard any of his material before.

Safe + Sound is straight classic Quik. Some may argue that Quik is the Name is better, but Safe + Sound made me a fan. This album is cool so far. Not really feeling the guests on it though.

If you dont know Quik, get rythalimism (I dont know how to spell it, youll find it) That's his best album to me front to back. No tracks need to be skipped.

I'm an absolute HUGE DJ Quik fan! I'm going to purchase the album off the strength because that's my dude and I want to show support.

Onto the album. I heard the sampler two weeks ago and it was decent. The beats and production are clean as usual due to live instruments.

I'm not biased in any fashion but this is clearly one of his weaker albums to me. He could have used less features, especially from his son.

Sure he was showing love to him by allowing him on the album, but his son is not a good rapper, he should stick to the boards. Out of 16 tracks,

not even half I felt were worth my time. Maybe I need to listen to the entire album (which I will) but I don't think that will change much. The sampler

was enough. To the average Quik fan we will like it and think it's decent. To a person who is not up on him or who has never heard his music, I don't think they will like it much. That beat and horns on Pet Semetary though? MAN!

Dom's flow and verse fit the Life Jacket beat perfectly. Good job man.

@N3RD  you think Rhythmalism is his best album? I don't. The way you feel about that album I feel the same way about Safe + Sound. That album

cemented him in the game. It had a nice mix of gangsta music and kick back music. That album still gets play by me regularly.

AGREED 100%! Too bad he got killed before his album's release. Mausberg The Superb was nice with flow and lyrics.

He was a prime example of gangsta. I liked his charisma and everything. Not many people have his album or heard it,

even out here in L.A. My favorite track on Non Fiction is "Tha Truth Is". I have many more but that is my number one

cut on that album. R.I.P. Mausberg.

This album just reminded me of what west coast music used to be.

I smiled all day today playing this.

32 years old and realizing I may be getting suck in an era. I can't do this new stuff any more.

Quik, Mausberg, 2nd to none, AMG...

Music was great then....

Yeh that was sad what happened to him. You right not a lot of people knew about that cd.

His song
Get nekkid would still rock a house party today that song was fire!!! . Off the top of my head I liked ring king , no more questions and mushrooms.

That entire collective was gangster and fun as hell at the same time. Quik/Mausberg/Suga Free/AMG/2nd II None/Hi-C/El & James Debarge put out some great music!

Homey, No More Questions is dope! Quik lost his mind on that Mushrooms beat. I'm really, REALLY tweakin'!

I guess Im just so emotionally invested in that album. That came out in 99, that was my sophomore year of high school. Then I started driving the year after that, and it was still fresh. So really its one of the first driving albums in my rotation. I could throw that in the whip and drive across country on only that right now.

So this is good?

I'll give it a shot.

Naw, I liked Way 2 Fonky, Safe & Sound and Quik Is The Name better than that. I remember being bored and let down by that.

I might have liked Balanced & Options better also.

Rhythmalism was dope and hits on there! I really liked that album. I don't remember it coming out in 99. I could have sworn it was before that. I could be wrong though.

We Still Party is my cut!

Great album. I wasnt really excited by the full album snippets I heard a few weeks ago. But hearing the full product, I can say that I'm digging it. It reminds me of Book of David in that it kinda grows on you.

That sounds right. The only song I didn't like on that album is Speed.
