PLEASE LOCK PLEASE LOCK: GSWARRIORS '14/15 SEASON THREAD VOL. NBA CHAMPS!

No....what you were saying is that David Lee is a big part of this team's success......which I wholeheartedly disagree with.
In the bigger picture he's important. They'll need him for the playoffs and to have a legit shot at the west
Why though?  Why in the bigger picture is he important?  Why do we need him for the playoffs and to have a legit shot at the west?

So far everyone who has talked about how important he is or how he is a part of this team's success has not supplemented that opinion with ANY reasoning as to why you believe that.

I firmly believe David Lee's presence on the court makes our team worse, and have supplied ample reasoning to support that idea.  If you disagree with it, fine.  But dont just disagree with it to disagree with it.  Tell me why.

He makes them worse as a defensive liability but not offensively. You can't say a 6'10 guy who can score and rebound can't help a team especially on the second unit
So if you admit he makes them worse in one area, but you think makes them better in another, doesnt that come out as a wash?  Where is the value added?

One could argue that curry has been a defensive liability as well. Hell, with the amount of turnovers he puts up he might as well be an offensive liability more times than people care to admit.

Never quit understood the dislike for Lee. Sure he's a bit overpaid player, but he really helped change the culture within the Warriors. Warriors had to overpay, it was the market. I think he has more utility than those advance stats you're looking at. At the end of the day If I'm a player I want someone like lee on my team. In sports it doesn't always boil down to adavance stats despite what ESPN and grantland would like you to believe.

^Well you can save that "advanced stats excuse" right there because I dont look at advanced stats all that much.  I just watch the games and see how much he negatively impacts our team.  I see us playing 4 on 5 on the defensive end everytime he is in the game.  And if you were referring to the % of rebounds grabbed as an advanced stat.....well I dont really know what to tell you.  That's a fairly basic stat, but it is more indicative of impact that strictly going off of total rebounds.

And I know the point you are trying to make about Curry's defense, but I think we can all easily admit that he more than makes up for it on offense.  And it is MUCH much easier to get away with having a poor defensive point guard than a poor defensive big man.  And yes, Curry plays poor on ball defense.  But Curry plays pretty good help defense, and knows how to rotate (things Lee is clueless with).

Im trying to find the Warriors' record without Lee. Can someone help me out with this? Remember seeing something along the lines of 12-4 last season.

I agree with dland and base my opinion mainly off the eye-ball test. This team is just more potent without him. Green affords us more athletic ability (both offensive and defensive) and better long-range shooting. Just having another tougher individual in Green improves and puts everyone else in better positions to succeed.

I see no point in mentioning that Lee started this team's turnaround when he came when no others would. So what? How does that currently factor into his minutes, his inflated salary and absolve him from fair criticism? His 20-10 have little value for all the reasons that have been mentioned previously.

Reading comprehension is key. Never said the fact he helped turned around this organization factors into his minutes for this year.I was pointing out why I didn't understand the dislike for lee.

Now I remember why don't dont entertain these types of discussions on NT. Carry on gentleman.

Read the last part of my sentence more carefully and then talk about comprehension.

That sentence wasnt targeted at you per se but to all Lee apologists who defend his minutes/contract/fan royalty.

watching dray, harrison and andre clank layups repeatedly off the back board due to their lack of size and trying to over compensate make me appreciate dlees offense

don't mistake that as i want him back in the starting line up... however, we'd be foolish to say that he's not worthy of being a solid and fundamental part of a second unit. we need his inside scoring badly

I'm not even a Lee fan but I know when plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.
Yeah but couldn't you say this about every single player on the team?  I mean seriously.  I am not trying to be a d*** here, but tell me which of the following statements is false in your opinion.

When Klay Thompson plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

When Stephen Curry plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

When Andrew Bogut plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

When Andre Iguodala plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

When Draymond Green plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

When Harrison Barnes plays well the Warriors are hard to beat.

Like I said, I am not trying to be an ***hole here, but I genuinely believe that people who think we are better off without David Lee present legitimate reasons as to why they think that....and the people who think Lee is valuable to us basically point to his 20-10s or simply state a narrative.

wow. what a d*** / ***hole.
Dont you have a picture to work on?

I'm curious to see what their W/L Record is with and without David Lee.

Maybe the Warriors can find a team that would actually trade for David Lee in the offseason and go after Paul Millsap or Greg Monroe (didn't really like him, but I'd say that he'd be an upgrade).

Gotta make it through this year first. But Lee as an expiring contract would be a nice trade piece.

Not sure if Monroe would be a good fit with what we run. Granted I really wanted him the year we got Udoh (?)
