Confirmed: HBO is launching a stand-alone streaming service in 2015

This is major. I been stealing HBOgi from friends and family for about 3 years now. Glad they smartened up

Supposed to be the same cost as it is now. Would think they would lower the price since they're getting the whole profit, not having to share it with the cable companies

All I need is a way to watch all my sports live and I'd be off cable so damned fast smh. Streams are always hit or miss and I want to watch on the big screen.

Who you telling man.

Right now I dont have any cable channels, just local HD (abc, fox, nbc, etc) and HBO HD. and 25mb internet with Comcast $60 a month

I don't miss to many live sports because football comes on Fox and CBS, NBC and I use my moms account info on my ESPN App on my Xbox One :smokin

I download everything else (walking dead, etc) but sometimes I miss watching those shows live

I predict it will be expensive, and wouldn't have shows available until after the season ends.

It would defeat the purpose IMO. Their biggest competitor in this spectrum would be Netflix.

I can definitely see this being slightly above Netflix's pricing point. I also see this launching right before Game of Thrones' new season premiere.

CBS Launches Digital Subscription Service

CBS is looking to be a television pioneer in the digital arena. Today, the longstanding station launched CBS All Access — their new digital subscription Video On Demand and live streaming service. Consumers will now have access to thousands of hours of programming from CBS Television’s current lineup, previous seasons and classic shows.

For just $5.99 a month, buyers will be able to watch whatever they want through through CBS.com — and its Smartphone compatible. The new service will also allow users to stream local CBS Television stations live in 14 of the largest U.S. markets.

Jim Lanzone, President and CEO, CBS Interactive, said: “Our focus is to develop the best cross-platform video experience possible. We want our audiences to be able to watch CBS’s industry-leading content live and on demand whenever and wherever they want. CBS All Access delivers on that promise by giving our audience not only more CBS content but also more ways to watch in a seamless user experience. We’ve integrated the service into our existing offerings and look forward to bringing it to all major digital platforms — including additional connected devices — in the coming months.
