Florida woman convicted for shooting gun in the air vol: Florida caught another W

Should of never been convicted in the 1st place.

How much time did she serve before they overturned it?

Only in Florida is this considered a W.

yes she should had been convicted. She was leaving out of harms way in the garage about to leave but she grabbed the gun, then went back in the house and shot through the wall were her kids were at. She was not in fear when she left. That is why she got convicted

20 years was ridiculous.

-Once inside, her estranged husband saw the gun and lunged at her “in a rage”, yelling, “B—-, I’ll kill you.” She said she raised the gun and fired a warning shot into the air because it was the “lesser of two evils,” as opposed to shooting and perhaps killing him.

This rationale is asinine though.

Marissa, according to her statements, said she managed to get past him, and ran into the garage. But according to both her and Gray’s statements, she couldn’t get out of the house through the garage, because it was locked, and the automatic door wasn’t working. So Marissa Alexander grabbed her licensed handgun out of her car and ran back into the house, where she confronted Gray in the kitchen. He was standing there with his two sons — an older one, who lives with his mother, and the younger son, who is 11, like Marissa and Lincoln’s twins.

Marissa fired one shot into the air, which lodged in the kitchen ceiling. Gray, in his deposition, admits she never pointed the gun at him. Lincoln says that on the 911 call, the man he calls only “the abuser” told the dispatcher he was “so pissed.” Not scared — pissed.

That number is 20. Under Florida’s 10-20-Life law, if a person is convicted of a crime involving a gun, they must serve an automatic 10-year sentence, with no discretion for the judge. If the gun is fired, it’s 20 years. If someone is killed by that gunfire, it’s 25 years to life.

She would had been out within 6 years anyways

I thought warning ***** were legal in Florida.

Pretty sure they aren't legal in MOST places around the world. For good reason. That's movie @#$^. I remember that one US soldier doing something similar.

Having a licensed handgun defeats the point if you basic gun rules or gun laws in your state/city :\

I remember the thread on this shortly safer Trayvon.

Crazier now that she was even convicted especially under those circumstances.

Yo I was livid that this woman got that kinda sentence for this....IN FLORIDA.

Girl was trying to protect herself and with all the stupid **** FL law enforcement and courts been up to...man smgdfh at the clear prejudice from hitting this girl with something as outlandish as that.

:pimp:

Nah thats an L.  If you read the whole case the man was abusive and this woman was trying to take her kids out of an abusive environment.

The fact that they didnt see it in the first place is astounding.

Free food, healthcare, weights and man/woman butt.

Half serious

What half?

All srs.

Do we get to reverse the bugs bunny gif?

This story was ridiculous, the fact that she was even convicted in the first place is downright embarrassing. But yea black people aren't allowed to play around with guns, that's been established. I saw a vid of that dude who got shot in Walmart meanwhile a bunch of fat white dudes are carrying around assault rifles freely. It is what it is.

Did you all read anything? The girl ran outside to her car to leave, changed her mind, grabbed her gun and went back inside the house to shot at him. she wasnt in fear, no self defense. DA offered her 3 years, she would had been out in a year or so but she turned it down
