Planning my yearly Europe trip and was considering traveling around using the Rail system. Anyone have any awesome scenic routes they recommend?

I was thinking of flying out to Vienna and then taking a train to Prague.

I'm actually heading out there in a few weeks. I'll be visiting London, Amsterdam, Paris, and a few Italian cities.

I went around some of Europe on the Eurorail, but I was using it solely for transportation so can't really help you on the sites/views while traveling.

Depending on how many countries you're planning on going to and how long your trip is, you may want to check out the Eurorail passes. PM me if you need some more info.

Have fun g :pimp:

Has anyone ever taken the Glacier Express? It's a train route from St. Mortiz to Zermatt (vise versa). It's supposed to be the most scenic train route in Europe.

St. Moritz and Zermatt are supposedly fantastic skiing resorts as well. Skiing in the Swiss Alpes doesn't seem like a terrible idea

I traveled to 24 countries in 5 months last year on the EURAIL. Literally the best thing I've ever done. Backpacking Europe was so much fun, and I had a blast. I definitely would recommend getting the Global Pass, basically you can hop on any train if there are spaces available and no reservations needed. All the major countries participate in the Euro-Rail. But the London- Paris and vice versa is not included.

- Excellent Scenery ( Rolling Hills in Italy, Swiss Alps, South of France Beaches, the Nordic Fjords)
- Comfortable Trains in 1st Class
- Free snacks on some trains
- Excellent train coverage, can pretty much go anywhere and take transfers
- You can hop on a 8+ overnight hour train ride, and sleep on it instead of booking a hotel
- You get too meet alot of cool people on the trains, backpacking their way through
- Free Wifi on most trains
