Jordan Retro 1 High “Laser” aka Custom Lasers Thread

Do you have more pics of your highlight reels? I scooped up a pair for $80 and it is my summer project to do the OLNL custom job as you have (I'm expecting 50+ hours of work). What was your process like? I would appreciate any/all help or advice!

The new love project took the most time in prepping. Also when applying lighter color paint on a dark shoe, it requires more paint and a lot of patience. My only advice is to be patient, don't rush.

I might buy two pairs of lasers
WHEN AND IF THEY GO ON SALE NEAR ME
to customize into New Loves and a misc. shoe of my choice. I don't want to do something that'll come out again soon. I don't know. I might pay someone to take creative freedom and surprise me on one

Why don't you buy a pair of highlight reels for ~$80 and turn them into OLNL. Its a lot of work but on the plus side you don't have to dye the soles nor paint the tongue.

What was the cheaper alternative product people said you can use instead of Sole Bright from Angelus? And where to purchase? For future reference.

back in 2010 i dyed my anni 11 soles blue using rit dye and water so thats only about $3

Huge difference here on my Laser Breens between the Angelus Matte Finisher up top and then Matte Spray I put on afterwards on the bottom. I will finish the other shoe this weekend.

A few tips or things to be aware of for others:

- Household bleach does a damn good job at getting dye off the midsole should you make mistakes (like I did). Acetone just wasn't good enough. Sole bright made the dye brighter - in my case it went from green to yellow.

- Make sure you put finisher on the inside of the lace holes. Basically slap as much as you want in there. I forgot to do this. I laced up the shoe on the bottom and the paint started to crack around the lace holes, and paint got onto the laces too.

Last question, hopefully, can you use the black leather DYE (not paint) mixed with GAC to make the tongue and liner black?

Thanks for the advice! Do you have any more pics of your completed pair? I could use some inspiration, especially when I get frustrated at how long this is gonna take haha

Thanks. I went to Home Depot and Michaels and neither of them had the krylon.
It should be with the spray paints that are caged. Should be a big section full of their spray paints and finishers. If not then your local Michaels sucks lol

Oh ok well in that case it must have to do with the fact that it's illegal to sell spray paint in the city of Chicago. Looks like I'll have to go to the burbs to buy it like I did when I needed spray paint for my patio furniture
