Which athlete "owns" your city?

Dirk and it isn't close.

But let the Cowboys win anything and Romo will be the mayor.

dont know much about dallas but even if romo wins one, he should still be no where near dirk
i know its a football town but still
dirk imo should be on the level of roger staubach and emmitt

as for nyc right now

eli
henrik
melo

in that order

I'm not NYC, but I live Upstate, and can answer NYC easily.

Will always be Jeter.

I'm convinced he could commit murder, and the cops will help clean it up for him so nobody would know.

Aldridge, but Dame is on his heels. That shot last year put him over the top for some.

Pitt is very nostalgic so it's still Mario and any of the 70s Steelers

Current players are Crosby, Cutch, and for the Steelers probably Troy still or Antonio Brown. Maybe Kiesel.....should be Heath Miller

Jeter and it's not even close.

Not sure who's replacing his image.

Bay Area:
Buster Posey
Pablo Sandoval
Tim Lincecum
Madison Bumgarner
Stephen Curry
Patrick Willis
Frank Gore

Former Players:

Joe Montana
Steve Young
Jerry Rice
Barry Bonds
Rickey Henderson

Romo will never pass Dirk.

This is still Texas.

The Mavs are a good team that plays in Dallas and Dirk is loved.

But being a Cowboy fan is part of the cultural identity of people from here. It's deeper than sports.

It's why I stopped hating the Cowboys once I got here.

Bumgarner is hot right now but Steph took it from Posey in these past two years or so.

Chicago - Current players I'd have to say Brandon Marshall, Patrick Kane or Jonathan Toews. Former would obviously be Jordan and Ditka.

cmon you dont even believe that
go to the union square nike store...

the store is filled with Kaepernick stuff.

walk around the bay area on a sunday... you'll see more people wearing 7 jerseys than any other player from any other team on a given day... even during the world series

Whether you're in SF, santa clara,  Palo alto, San jose, wherever.

I've seen waves of red on gameday... and I've seen kaepernick jerseys like no other.

there's a reason why kaeperinck has had one of the most high selling jerseys in the nfl...

i can guarantee his jersey sales are > mad bum and probably curry too

when/if the Warriors move to SF, curry will easily be #1. playing in Oakland is a huge knock on his potential fame.

Sacramento = demarcus cousins

& the Oakland raiders franchise lol.... more raider logos out here on a given day than on 880

All Time and Overall:

Magic Johnson (Most beloved Laker ever, big philanthropist and involved with the Dodgers now)
Jerry West (Great player, Champion in '72 and architect of Showtime and Shaq-Kobe)
Tommy Lasorda (Longest tenured LA Dodger, decent player, legendary manager)

At Various Times:

Kareem (UCLA Bruin and then 14 great years with the Lakers)
Wayne Gretzky (The other great thing to see at the Forum)
Shaq (Threepeat, 20 playoff series wins in 8 years, very likeable)
Pete Carroll-Reggie Bush- Matt Leinart (2005 was a crappy calendar year in LA Pro Sports)
Kobe (never as beloved as Magic or Shaq but widely regarded as the best Laker player ever)

You Cannot Forget:

Vin Scully and Chick Hearn (Dodger and Laker announcers, respectively. Those two may be the most beloved and iconic figures in Los Angeles sports because they have given us decades of memories and their extremely long tenures let them transcend generations of LA Sports fans)
