Blur and Oasis are both from the UK.

Bieber is Canadian.

Anyways, right now it seems like UK artists are killing it on multiple levels of music.  And now that I think about it, they have been for a minute now.  But overall it's a tough call.

The UK got us

The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
The Who
The Kinks
The Zombies
Black Sabbath
David Bowie
T. Rex
Queen
Elton John
Elvis Costello
The Clash
The Smiths
The Cure
The Police
Depeche Mode
Radiohead
Oasis
The Verve
Gorillaz

Add the band with the same namesake as the lady in my avy to that UK list.

Great list.

Sex Pistols and Pink Floyd are the only other major artists I could think of.

adele vs beyonce?

beyonce isnt even worthy to be put on the list my man.

Mike is one of the greatest entertainers ever and I celebrate his entire catalog, but personally I don't think he changed music and society like The Beatles did.

Well America did have:

Muddy Waters
Chuck Berry
Elvis
Beach Boys
Bob Dylan
The Doors
Grateful Dead
Jimi Hendrix
CCR
Neil Young
Aerosmith
Velvet Underground
The Ramones
Dead Kennedys
Talking Heads
Bruce Springsteen
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Metallica
The Killers
The Strokes
All of Motown

Not to mention rock & roll and house/techno originated from here.

^^^^ Repped you made a great point

Most popular music today came from here

So we win by default

And this is why I think it's too close to call.

We haven't even started talking about the black side of American Pop music, besides Mike. Prince, Tina Turner, Stevie, Ray Charles, Marvin and on and on and on....

Let's call it a tie

You could make arguments all day but in all honesty it's always been a kind of symbiotic back and forth relationship rather than a contest, with both sides of the pond influencing each other and then building on it.

Can't believe I forgot those 2 :smh:

Now that I'm looking through my iTunes I'll also throw in Amy Winehouse, The Animals, Blur, Buzzcocks, Clapton, Cream, Iron Maiden, The Jam, Joy Division, M.I.A., The Stone Roses, Van Morrison (I think he's from North Ireland), and Fleetwood Mac (mix of UK and US).
