excluding rap , AMERICA vs ENGLAND

Neil Young is Canadian and shouldn't be on that list that American list.  I only know this because we hope he makes up for the tragic Justin Bieber and Nickelback.

Well America did have:

Muddy Waters
Chuck Berry
Elvis
Beach Boys
Bob Dylan
The Doors
Grateful Dead
Jimi Hendrix
CCR
Neil Young
Aerosmith
Velvet Underground
The Ramones
Dead Kennedys
Talking Heads
Bruce Springsteen
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Metallica
The Killers
The Strokes
All of Motown

Not to mention rock & roll and house/techno originated from here.
oh oh , great list

Keep in mind that Hendrix himself was American, but the rest of the Experience was British.

This is a great topic. I'm rocking with The States off the strength of blues, jazz, and the fact we created rock n roll. Not to mention jam.

Bob Dylan
Grateful Dead
Allman Brothers

That's all that needs to be said in my opinion.

is there a decade or string of years where one dominated ? or has the competition between the two always been neck and neck

Yep. Been saying this for YEARS. Couldn't agree more. Repped. Dylan is doing 3 shows at the Orpheum in Minneapolis this week. Wish I was up there for them. Seen him 5-6 times.
