SERIAL PODCAST - Adnan Granted a new Trial

Thing is, season 1 did not leave me entirely convinced that dude was innocent. Hopefully this new trial reveals something a bit more concrete.

Just started this podcast at work and im hooked. In ep 3, prolly gonna stay out of the thread to avoid spoilers until im done tho haha

If someone showed you a dead body in a trunk, I'd never forget when and where that happened. But 15 years later Jay still coming up with new locations.

Prosecuters are probably going to appeal this decision first

Doesn't work that way. Prosecutors can't challenge a persons right to due process, which is basically what the judge granted him in this case. I agree that the cops and prosecutors did a terrible job of presenting the case, but I'm in the minority that thinks he did it.

there is no evidence that points to adnas guilt aside from Jays shaky story. the first trial that ended up a mistrial, Jay was awful on the stand and hurt the prosecutions case. he got cleaned up by the second trial.

take him out of the equation, what points to adnan being guilty?

Just started listening, on the 5th episode..

He shouldn't have been convicted, way too many questions

Now did he and/or Jay do it.. That's another question.. But there is no way the prosecution could surpass the burden of proof

Did any of you guys that think he did it listen to the undisclosed podcast?

I have

That podcast discovered a bunch of weird banging when Jay was interviewed

Like whenever he would mess up you would hear a banging on the table telling him that wasn't what he was suppose to say

Pretty crazy

Listening to Serial season 1 creeped me out at times. The music was too eery. I was working overnight one time and was like nah I can't do this anymore.

Undisclosed put out a Podcast since Adnan was given a new trial

Very emotional intro

my boy just put me onto this. Finished the 12 eps in Season 1 in 3 days lol.

Jay definitely did it or helped do it. I think Adnan is innocent.

Man, this case still grips me.

Any news on Adnan's re-trial? What happens now? What are the possibilities? So will the prosecution try to appeal this and keep him in jail as long as possible? Would cutting a deal best serve their interests? They would not take this to trial, would they?

I do not understand the people who think Adnan did it. Beyond a reasonable doubt. There is NO evidence linking him to the murder yet they are convinced he did it. Why would Adnan remember what he did that day to a tee? I do not even remember what I did on a Friday per se two weeks ago. Nada. Someone who is guilty would come up with a story to stick to or lie about, but someone who is innocent of course would not have a concrete story because they know nothing and did not do it. If Adnan knew what happened and was involved and wanted to wipe his hands clean, he would throw it right back to Jay for ratting him out.

Now, on the other hand, Jay and Jen are sketchy as hell. Jay knows who did it and he is protecting that person and even fears them, or he was involved, or the cops scared him into it because of the cell phone records and he freaked out because of his shady business and criminal record and decided to abide to the cops instruction or he would go in jail. They both have criminal records, pasts, both of their families know each other. Jen and Jay are the ones with the details on the murder, have each other as an alibi, disposed of the supposed evidence, etc. The call log of Adnan has them calling each other when Jay had Adnan's phone during Hae's disappearance that day. Jay knows more information than the he let on the cops. He was somehow involved or is VERY close to the person who did it.

This case befuddles me. I do not think Adnan did it, even IF he did, there is not enough evidence that warranted him jail time.

I think Jen and Jay knows more than they're leading on obviously. I do not think Jen had anything to do with the actually murder, but maybe help being the alibi for Jay. But what confuses me, (and I need to re-listen to fully refresh) but in the last episode they brought up some serial killer that got out of prison right before, etc...I think he did it. Jay somehow got arrested and was given time for his weed dealings, in order to escape I think he made a deal, hence the banging from cops and it was some elaborate plan to close the case. Jay seemed like a punk anyways, so to me thats believable. Baltimore known for shady dealings closing cases.

I haven't heard much anything else about when the new case will occur, but I think Adnan will be set free, but we will never know who killed Hae.

@Streetballer23  , You are right that Jay was arrested for an offense during those weeks, and the cops did tell him if he does not cooperate, they will put in life/death penalty for Hae's murder. They had that anonymous call, they zoned in on Adnan, they check his call log, they see  calls made to Jay and Jen throughout the day. So they look up Jay's criminal record and boom. So they come to Jay and he freaks out because he is shady as hell and thinks he will be put in for life. gets scared because the cops have so much on him and he has a lot on the line, including his family and friends he knows that could be dragged in for their shady business as well.

BUT, why does he implicate himself so deeply to the point that he is an accomplice to the murder? He does keep saying he saw Hae's body and helped dispose of the body (at times he was there during the burial, other times he was not). How the hell this guy got pro bono and just 2 years probation is unbelievable to me. He was surely coerced and fed to say what he did to match Adnan call log that day. But, what if Jay was involved in Hae's murder disappearance and even knew who did it but he is protecting that person or feared them? Then the whole cop notes about the $3,000 reward and the motorcyle, and Jay rode motorcycles and had mentioned he wanted to buy a motorcycle from someone for that price. The reward was given after the trial was done.

As for the cops, it was easier to pin this on Adnan due to the motive they conjured for why Hae was killed AND they had a star witness to "confessed" he was an accomplice and Adnan did it. They had NO circumstantial evidence whatsoever on Adnan.  But Adnan, nothing. He knew nothing as well and not like the cops can pin this on Jay if their evidence was not a smoking gun.

Mind boggling. I do not understand this Jay guy and why he keeps changing his story, but still insists he saw Hae's body and involves himself in her murder. He must have been there or knows who did it.

i don't eve know think Jen and jay know who did it. I think the police wanted Adnan for this murder and constructed it all the way around. Listen to the undisclosed podcast!

@1stWitIt  , I did listen to the Undisclosed Podcast and how you can clearly tell in some of the audio tapes that he was being coached what to say with his pauses and the tapping. But, after all these years, why is this man still implicating himself as an accomplice if he knows nothing or was not involved somehow or if he does not know anything? There are certain consistencies where he says he saw her body in a trunk and was part of helping bury her.

Jay got off smooth in this whole matter, why wouldn't he keep it up? Jay and consistent don't belong in the same sentence. Again, I don't think any of them have anything to do with it, I think the police coerced them into lying.
