OFFICIAL STOCK MARKET AND ECONOMY THREAD VOL. A NEW CHAPTER

Depends on the basket and the type of ETF (if it's leveraged). Chart and fundamentals of the individual companies comprising the basket (and knowing the weight of each company inside the basket) is the basics.

Finally opened a personal account w/ Tradeking.

Only going to do $1000..

Going after ATT (used to work there) and SNR (fat dividend yield)

I wanted to go with Interactive Brokers but that 10k entry point is no joke.

Honestly guys, I think the vast majority of people should go with Robinhood. Not a lot of tools, but that's what ToS is for. Trade costs really adds up for those with smaller accounts making smaller trades.

Do they have a good mobile app?

I haven't executed any trades yet, so it's still open.

How's fidelity?

Can this market correction happen already?

SNE should climb with the announcement of the new PS coming soon.

Gap (GPS) has earnings tomorrow after the bell. Picked up some puts right at the run-up just now

DD: I haven't purchased any clothes from a Gap branded store in the last 3 months.

Don't do as I do. Gap actually provided a really low/conservative guidance for the Q, so I'm scared holding it. I think Wiz or somebody else here said to not hold onto anything that makes you lose sleep at night. May just take profits before the closing tomorrow.

^ I'm a fan of GAP's clothes (still wear their stuff, all of which I cop on the low), but not a fan of how they've lost direction.

Banana Republic outlet stores ftw :pimp: Old Navy makes nice t-shirts and jeans for cheap too. Hope they don't die anytime soon.

I hit up banana republic outlets from time to time. Don't mess with gap or old navy really though. Who knows retails had some momentum. Look at JCP chart

Remember when I mentioned JCP's chart around 7 and someone laughed at me. Lol.

Can't wait to start working in September and get back into the game.

Probably me tbh.

Why Sept? No spare change in the brokerage account to play?
Nah it was someone who doesn't post here regularly

Yeah pretty much. Need those pay checks to come through to add some funds to the account.

AAPL usually sees at least a 1% gain in the day(s) before the iPhone announcement.

Haven't seen the usual iPhone buy the news, sell the event type pattern this season.

I can see the price making a quick move back to $110 in the coming days and moving past $115 to $120 by the X-Mas season.

Next couple of days will be volatile as bears try to scare off rookie traders with shaky trigger fingers, overwhelmed by the volatility and perpetual "Apple is in trouble" news articles...but by the time iP7 pre-order numbers are released next week, the stock price will be significantly higher.

Scooping up a couple October $110 call options.

AAPL is in a tricky position from what we know about their release schedule. 7 this year, per the usual, but expected 8 next year that's supposed to reinvent the iPhone? Current FY expectations and demand are going to be hit because of that. I wouldn't care if the price gets depressed following the holiday season, gives better entry points before the 8 and whatever else Apple has up its sleeve for 2017.

But I also don't think the 7 will see too bad of demand. People with the 6 will want the new line ASAP, and with the instant gratification crowd getting older and wanting to keep up with the newest (coupled with the pay as you go plans from carriers), the 7 might surprise.

Interested in tomorrow. Hope there's more than just the phone announcement.

I really like WDC products in general. Haven't really looked at their financials, but nice rally indeed.

NTDOY today... wow

Who picked this up? I remember reading that they were going to announce some more nintendo phone games but didn't know it would happen at the apple event. damn shame.

anybody think shorting nintendo a good idea? i think it has to pull back a few dollars next couple days probly shoot up again and hover
