Them not having durabuck makes my decision easy. I was really torn on these back in 2002. I love the VI and this colorway, but lows

IDK about these.'15 version remastered retro. They just look too much like the VI boots JB came out with years ago in like 3-4 different colors.
Toe box too boxy, metallic silver paint around side AIR units just looks awful. As for the material, straight Garbage. Might have to cop just too sole swap with my Chrome low VI's.

(Sigh) Ya know, Ive NEVER been one to complain about quality at all. Im 37, Ive had OGs, retro's, re-retros blah blah blah. Ive always just thought it is what it is and Im happy to get a shoe that brings back alot of memories growing up and thats it. When I heard of the whole "remastering" I cant lie I was hella excited lol. Can someone please tell me what the hell has been "remastered" to look as close to OG as possible? That was the whole plan and point right? The 4's shape clearly still isnt close to OG love, leather I will say is better, but WHY is it impossible for JB to release a black based non-synthetic shoe and give us Durabuck???!!! Durabuck is actually a huge part in what corrects the shape and overall look of the shoes. It brings the richness back to the black color, and makes it not seem so damn stiff. I was all good with the price increase, didnt bother me at all as long as materials were gonna be on point......THIS is far from on point and definitely far from REMASTERED. I really hate that Im complaining and Im truly sorry ur reading me do so.............but DAMN! smh You get excited when u hear a shoe is comin' back, then u see pics and ur like "For real?" Again, my bad for the dumb *** rant ya'll.It's definitely looking like Ashy Larry nubuck on these. I'm out…

I've always felt like the VI Low should have holes in the tongue; and the tongue should have been constructed w/ the same rubber/neoprene material as the high.
I realize the tongue isn't as long & the holes would likely serve little function on a low, but they're the defining trademark of the VI, in my eyes.
Maybe I'm the only one.

You're not the only one. It's why I've never really liked lows despite loving the VI. You're taking a major and distinctive part of the shoe away.
I'm puzzled by the lack of durabuck use also, because they will use it for Nike retros like regular Barkley's.

I'm surprised they are using that suede like material on these. It looks similar to the 2010 varsity red material. As much hate as those got, they looked good on feet. I will wait to crucify these until I see them in person. I hope they come out well as I have been wanting these to retro for several years now

Good point, but I see why they did it. Another prominent feature of the VI is the "patch" on the tongue that the laces go behind. There is not enough room on the VI low to have both the patch and the holes. I think they opted for the patch as it does flow better with the low imo. Now, if I had been conditioned to seeing the holes in lieu of the patch, I might think differently.

Good lil back to school pick up. Will be wearing these to class while scoping out the biddies. Hope the material don't get too ashy, plus the sun beaten down on em and pollen in the air. Was forced to buy a brush for my ashy Black Friday infrareds smh.
