Soooo how should I email my professor?

So I transferred school and i needed a recommendation from my prof. at my past university.

I emailed him about a month ago asking and he said sure and i told him the due date was nov 3.

the due date really isn't nov 3 its act. dec. 1 but I lied so i can get it early just in case.

well in nov 4 now and he hasn't emailed me the recommendation and i was just wondering what the proper way I should go

about this. how should I email him? should i just bluntly be like "Hi Dr. _______, I was wondering if you were able to finish the letter of recommendation?"
 
That's good thinking on your part about buying yourself some buffer time. I'm sure your professor has a lot on his plate and forgot.

I would say something like:

Hi Dr. X,

I want to follow up on the recommendation letter I requested from you a while back. I would appreciate if you can complete it sooner than later as this is time sensitive. Please let me know if I can be of further help.

Also you may want to reach out to other professors you know as a backup plan in case this one falls out. This is why its so important to build rapport with them. I never did this in undergrad and learned it in grad school.

or something that he would do
 
i hate these teachers that say they'll do something for you and flake. like bro i'm paying 30 grand a year, u work for me.
