3rd Annual SB Secret Santa/Exchange/GIF 2016 Thread (SOON TO BE 4TH ANNUAL)

wait how did 2 days turn into 2 weeks? never seen such a drastic change in time even from usps

LoL... I am waiting for the postman to pick it up today... But anything that is shipped to me from USPS usually takes atleast a week no matter if it's overnight, 2 day priority or ground..

are you in a remote area of CT?

I'm kinda in the same boat.

Just ordered a new pair that got shipped in Priority mail on friday.

Not only are they not here yet, but the shipping number gives me no info.

It's #firstworldproblems but annoying nonetheless

Gotta tip your mail person mine takes care of me packages are never late and puts them right where I ask

never around when usps comes, wish they had options for will call or any options for that matter

I get why you guys might think CT is the problem (rural, far from CA, etc) but the problem is USPS. 2-day is just a stupid standard service. They rush so much to get some packages that they can't get the rest of the packages and it results in absurdly high percentages of "delayed" packages. In all reality, they are usually faster than UPS but they take a huge hit for doing so. That's why their business model sucks.

I'm not going to get too heavy on this one, but if you think UPS and FedEx would serve any of the rural locations that USPS does at the price they do it for, you're sadly mistaken.

I've had nothing but good experiences with the mail ever since I worked in an environment where I learned how to mail stuff out properly. Basically if you want to make sure your stuff actually goes out, take a ride out to your local sort site and send from the counter.

I sent my brother a Priority Box in the middle of the afternoon Wed, he got it in NJ less than 48 hours later.

When I did the Supreme Exchange from these forums I mailed late in the day, and it still got out to CA within 2 days. The only time I ever have a hold up is if I just dump into the self service bins, because I never pay attention and always miss the last pick up for them.

theres one local post office that i use that always seems to do me wonders, packages always get to their location on time and without a problem, guess i've been lucky.

Well, they provide the service they claim. I hate USPS because 2-day priority is really whenever the **** we get it there priority. As I said before, they are GENERALLY faster than UPS and cost less money, but I spend the extra dough to guarantee shipments will arrive when I expect them to and for their incredible tracking (plus other options USPS doesn't offer). I spend more money, but I get less headache. Totally worth it for me. I just can't get down on a company that makes a claim and doesn't back it. It's a typical bait and switch. I don't care if 3 days to Cali is faster than UPS because they call it 2-day priority. There's nothing 2-day or priority about that!

Used FedEx to ship mine today. Says will arrive Wed night, but we shall see.
I work as a shipping manager/systems engineer and the ONLY times I see delays on packages with UPS/FedEx are in three instances:

1) Weather delays ( or other unavoidable acts of God)
2) Last-minute holiday shipments
3) Customs (unavoidable no matter what carrier you use, and most of us ship only domestically anyways)

The holiday shipping delays are not even bad either. Last year for Christmas, people complained that 1 million packages were lost/delayed by UPS in the days leading up to Christmas. The thing they forgot to mention is that UPS handled OVER 100 MILLION SHIPMENTS in those few days, and so their failure rate even in the heaviest shipping time of the year was less than 1% which is near miraculous considering what they're doing. I have had a personal failure rate from USPS in the high 20 percent range. Maybe this is just bad luck, but 1 of 5 packages delivered to me via USPS will be either lost or delayed. And that's not even during big shipping periods.

I shipped mine usps across country in a little less than a week. With a holiday (veterans day). The least expensive as possible

Again, cost-effectiveness for the consumer is USPS. However, they are also losing millions (if not billions) of dollars each year and a small portion of that money comes from taxpayers like you and I. Last I checked (Aug 2014) the USPS had a net loss of 47 billion in the last 10 years and 3 billion of that came from taxpayers. I don't like to support USPS for the aforementioned reasons in addition to the fact that their ****** business model comes out of my pocket. So in the end, it is NOT the cheaper way to ship and I am voting with my dollar by using UPS every time.

The reason they are running deficits is because of that brilliant The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act. They are being asked to something that no company, public or private has ever been asked to do.

Will always give my money to USPS 10/10.

Just getting some last minute details completed before I send out this week or next.
I hope they like the box as much as I liked creating it...
