It kind of just seems to put what Siri and Google Now do in a cylinder. Which, except for maybe that kitchen scene, seems pointless as hell.
Like they could've done most of those things on their phones.

it's a very cool thing, and looks nice, but honestly it's redundant because everyone has smart phones and we can all do everything the ECHO can do via our iPhone or Galaxy.

Thing is this allows you to not need to drag you phone everywhere you go in your house. Could just be in the living room and have a question or wanna listen to some tunes and Echo comes in handy.

This stuff was cool to imagine in 90's movies but now it seems pretty pathetic.
with a decent phone or laptop combine with an internet service you can do everything demonstrated except the "talking to your pc" (or rather "it" talking back) part.
Talk about selling the sizzle. And I consider myself a tech enthusiast.
When you think of the state of other civilizations..really? This is what we're spending our R&D on people?
