Selma MLK Film Starring David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Common RD: 1/9/15

Yeah beating a dead horse. Bring up a racially motivated movie to stir black folk up at a time for peace, awareness and higher consciousness.

The wicked and their tricks. Don't support this ****.

Aren't y'all tired of this **** yet? That crap is OLD. Let it GO.

Let kings legacy live in 2014 not the 1960's.

Tired of these movies...give me a nat Turner movie

Im surprised more black film makers arent taking advantage of Netflix, granted we cant expect an Epic Moorish War flick or something but it def opens the door for some good historical flicks. Heck if they can give Queen Latifah and Cam a deal to make multiple flicks im sure they can afford to give Spike Lee a deal to make some Netflix original content especially if he made his next movie Sweet Blood of Jesus on a 1million dollar budget

yea, these movies are really starting to get tiresome. will check it out eventually.

Lol when was a better time to release it...?
The holiday is on the 19th. Black history month is next month...

The country has always been on some racial ****. What are ppl really saying?

I was reading the comment section on a video review of this movie and saw "white guilt film" comments pop up frequently.

If a film based on historical events is considered a "white guilt film" then shouldn't history books be considered "white guilt books" as well?

Loved the movie.

And in these times of unrest, which we're seeing the philosophical concept of peaceful protest/ exercising our right to assemble vs. violence, and civil unrest in our communities; this movie has perfect timing.

I wanted to it from the jump because I was a history major in college..the 1960s is a great period of history IMO and Dr. King was one of my historical figures so it was a must on my list this year for movies..i was definitely pleased with it..

Wasn't a big crowd but definitely cause of the time that I went to see it (10pm)

I would have liked to see the actual signing of the bill at the end of the movie..sorta like a fast forward but I really liked the film even though I already knew the story and the outcome!

Go see it for the performance of the actor of Dr. King..I thought he did a great job..:pimp:

Going to see it tonight..

Is it white washed Hollywood stuff?

Or does it tell the REAL?

This is part of the reason I don't want to see it in the movies...I feel like they purposely released it around this time where we as black people are vulnerable & pretty feel obligated to support the movie since it deals with one of our most influential figures & one of the worst days in our march for civil rights

On a side note I've walked across that bridge before that was chilling experience
