Not to derail the thread, but I think there is a possibility that he could legitimately be delivered. For instance, there are times when I leave church and I don't lust for women/aim for sex as heavily as I usually do. The feeling may wear off if don't nurture it with regular religious reinforcement, but it's definitely a spiritual state that will have you behaving in a more pure manner.

That brainwashing eventually wears off, which would explain why every religious nut job is in church 7 days a week.
