What makes you say this?

...and just curious, have you tried any of the adidas Boost shoes?
Several studies have been done over the years and "energy return" from midsole cushioning has been found to be minimal at best. Don't know if you can access the full articles but here are few journal article abstracts on the subject

This 2014 Men's Journal article sums up some running shoe myths based on scientific study over the years
They don't make boost running shoes in my size (16) but I did own the DRose 5's for a short while before returning them. I know Bball and running are two different sports but I was impressed with boost. I think its a great cushioning system. I returned the DRose's for other on court reasons.
I think we have a different understanding of the type of "energy" we are talking about. If you put on an Energy Boost shoe, will it make you run faster? No. The "energy return" I am talking about is the cushion/responsiveness that Boost foam gives a runner. It won't give a person more energy like an energy drink does, obviously.

Also, regarding the first two articles, I agree, it is minimal, but over a marathon of 26.2 miles...that can help out quite a bit.

I see... you're right proper footwear definitely matters. Especially when you get beyond 10k.

sis got me a pair of Adizero adios boost 2 and I love them. Since I've been transitioning my running form and footstrike I've become a little less concerned with stability shoes and pronation control and more with forefoot cushioning and flexibility. The adios are great but would even be better with more cushioning in the forefoot. Want to cop a pair of the Takumi Sen 3 boosts eventually and I'm intrigued by the ultraboosts.

I wish those ultra boosts were for flat footed people. It uses light weight upper knit material which I'm gaga for. Just not sure how the cushioning and support will affect my bad knee.

From the marketing pitch it seem they kind of tried to make it an every runners shoe. Super cushioned with boost but with stability built in. I would run a few miles in them before I wrote them off. Most specialty running stores let you return and exchange running shoes that don't work for you and/or let you get a km or mile in on the treadmill in store.

Just picked up the Pegasus 31

Switching over from the adios boost.

I hope Nike starts using that structure 18 upper on more runners. It's amazing. It's just a Jordan 29 upper on running shoes. I love it.

So far so good with the Pegasus. First time wearing Nike runners in a couple of years

Are they more ventilated? I've never owned one and only tried them on, not a chance to run to experience how it really is. Really got to stop procrastinating and grab a pair already.

It's Nike Lunar Racer 3 and they have been out for maybe a year or two now? They are often on sale too, Finishline probably has a few, check them out. One of the lightest shoes I've ever tried on (if not the lightest).
I feel they are, but I may be bias! haha I run in the F2s too, but I definitely prefer the LR3s over them.

Are they out yet?
Yeah, they've been out since December 2012. You can find older cws heavily discounted now (~$60 or so).

finishline has a really good deal on them

theres a volt/black colorway for $39.99 right now ( sz 10 only  though)

love my lunar racers.

definitely a light shoe, did some research before i did the LA marathon and this model was highly recommended for long distance running.

ran in a practically brand new pair and my feet felt great.

Nike's best, imo! I've got 8 pairs of them. They're good to go right out of the box.

-edit- There's also a LunarTempo dropping soon, which is the long awaited update of the LunarTrainer from 2008.

Pegasus 31 is a lot more responsive, im tempted to cop with a Swoosh disco but my Pegasus 30 is still being good to me. I got my mile down to under 8:30 which to me (losing 50lbs in 6 months, coming off a broken foot and never been a runner) is great. Actually hit a 7:40 mile a few days ago but going down a couple hills helped out with that.

Grats on those improvements.

And I would wait out on the 31s if your 30s has plenty of life, the 31s will be on discount soon enough and just use that discount to stack. No need to pay retail now.

They are on disco for $80 and with my buddies employee disco its another 40% off. Id get em for under $50 but I wanna beat my 30's to the ground first. If it aint broke...

So I started running a few months ago and I really enjoy it and even did my first race back in December (5 miles , 44 min). Got new Saucony guide 8s for Christmas and really like them. My question is how do I vary my running to get speed and endurance . I can run 5 miles with relative ease and up to 7 miles if I'm "in the zone" . I'd like to enter more races and eventually work my way to half and full marathon status . Any help , comments , suggestions is appreciated . Thanks

There are plenty of half-marathon/marathon training programs on the web, just do a quick google search and you'll find some very easily. I'd find one that include diet tips as well as I believe that is very important and goes hand in hand.

I am not sure if Nike still has it but back when they had Nike+ they had some programs for 5k, half marathon, marathon, etc... training. It was pretty much telling you to do fast sprints one day and then long slower paced run the next, etc... until you build up endurance and all. Maybe check out if they have it in the Nike Running App?

Best of luck!

out here in LA there are a lot of running groups that are open to anyone

not sure if other cities get down like, id look aorund on IG

Nike Santa Monica had 3,5, and 7 mile runs on Wed & Sun iirc, not sure if they still have them going on

I believe NYC has those groups too, I think almost all Niketowns try to do group runs.

I've posted this before but Active.com is a good place to start looking for what is going on in your area.

Thank you for all the tips ! I'm in Houston so unfortunately no Nike stores by me except outlet . Diet is also something I'm working on and how it relates to running , what to eat before / after a run etc . I'll try active too . Appreciate the help

Might be getting a new pair soon. Starting to feel some soreness from my Vomeros.
