HBO: "Westworld"...Cancelled After 4 Seasons

Yeah HBO shelved a lot of content that was supposed to come out soon.

Wylin'

I know there are many others, like myself, that see "new HBO series" & automatically say IN.

In HBO we trust :pimp:

Repped for being a die hard fan.

I just believe you have to strike while the iron is hot. People are turning away as soon as news gets out and they quickly forget, moving on to something better.

I'd be willing to bet that a large portion of the viewing audience isn't even aware that this show is in production so I don't see how you can say that they're losing viewers by postponing the debut

But news gets out much quicker and thanks to social media....a much wider audience. Negative press is good for strumpets like the Kardashians but not for film projects.

Titanic did end up being in theaters way longer than anybody thought. Hence it's huge box office.

JJ Abrams opens up about the HBO delay at SXSW:

“Westworld is one of those things I’ve wanted to work on for so long. I had a meeting probably 21 years ago with Michael Crichton [who wrote and directed the 1973 original film] about doing this. And it’s taken along time to get this going. At the heart of Westworld is this story of consciousness and oppression and discover. It’s one of the projects I feel most grateful and lucky to be a part of. What [the directorial team has] done is so stunning and cool and they’re not rushing it because of business maters and the network is giving them the time. That is never a bad move.”

EW had a breakdown of the exclusive trailer JJ showed at SXSW:

The short sizzle reel took place largely in the underground laboratory of the futuristic West-theme amusement park. Anthony Hopkins’ character, Dr. Robert Ford, watches on as synthetic muscle fiber is printed onto a robot shaped like Da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man.”

Other synthetics are shown dressed as cowboys and drawing their six-shooters within containment cubes, and there’s even a robotic buffalo.

“Our creatures have been misbehaving,” Ford tells to Jeffrey Wright’s. “Do you think it’s sabotage?” What plays out next is that “misbehaving.” Characters are shooting each other and possibly driving others off of cliffs. A Native American character appears to scalp another.

“You can’t play got without being acquainted with the devil,” Ford says.

Reportedly westworld is in the final two weeks of production with the season finale being directed by Nolan himself. So expect the premiere either late 16 or early 17.

HBO finally announced today Westworld will debut this Fall.

I haven't been paying much attention to the lead up to this, but I've been hyped since I heard of it. I always wanted to watch the movie, but never really got around to it. I got a few weeks left.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but this looks amazing.

The producers already planned this out hoping to reach 5 or 6 seasons with an endgame in mind. Lets hope it does well for that to happen.
