Quentin Tarantinos Movie Thread - “THE MOVIE CRITIC” no longer his final film

Bruh that was Violence on a biblical scale

Sorry that was a typo. I meant most if not all were justified kills in Hateful 8. IB and Jango was just violence for violence sake.

so when white slavemasters are killed its gratuitous

but when the three black people (only one of whom was really even named) get killed in H8 and theyre justified because well gosh darn it they gotta save daisy damogue

just to show how unjustified it was, they even let the old white guy live

Movie is LIT! I must warn ya'll though. Be prepared for EXCESSIVE use of the N-word. More so than any of his other movies

:rolleyes

Bruh

everybody died in the movie

When it comes to the N word use I truly believe thats how white folks saw and treated us back then. Why would it surprise anyone thats how folks talked to black folks back then?

Also Justifiable? its a movie they killed people cause they could to fit the story, but JESUS that **** was BLOODY

That's to be expected from a QT movie though, especially in a western setting.

Again can someone expalin why it should be expected to hear ****** 200 times in a western movie but it shouldn't be expected that africans look like africans on film?

lol huh?

My only thing is based on the Marketing it doesnt even seem like the movie has 5 black people in it for there to be more N Word usage than Django which is a movie centered around Slavery.

I guess I will make my assessment after I see the film this weekend.

Justified in a sense that these people are given character, names, and moves the plot along.

In IB, they murdered a theater full of nazi, all you got were they were nazis.

In Django, they were just evil slaveowners in the end shootout.

In Hateful 8, every character's death had a meaning, thus a justified kill in the sense of story telling.

Not justified in that they should have been killed.

I hope you're trolling with this reply.

The story Denzel told that old man.... HooooOOOooOoooomygod
lol that wasn't Denzel mannnnn

Also, H8ful Eight is prob QT's more Pro-black film to date. Take some time and think about all the black characters vs. the white characters.

Huge QT fan. FIrst film of his I didn't enjoy.
Jackson's story to the General was hilarious. Tatum getting his head blow off was great. Rest of the movie was meh.  I couldn't buy Mannix being OK with Major Warren shooting the General.

well i guess i cant argue with the storytelling component

its not like tying them up and putting them in the basement with channing tatum would have changed all that much about the movie

but their deaths were all necessary to illustrate just how ruthless and savage the demagogue gang was

 aw man I was debating someone of how Revenant bit Training Day with that whole "I saved her thing" and got a little confused. Funny typo

Good movie.

Samuel L Jackson was great.

Kurt Russell as well.

But the two that really stood out for me were Jennifer Leigh and Walton Goggins.

But altogether not really a classic. I think there will be a good amount of replay value but not as much as 'Django Unchained'.

7.5/10.

I was wondering about the dope music a few pages back and found the answer.

Quentin Tarantino announced in 2015's Comic-Con that Ennio Morricone would compose the score for the The Hateful Eight. Tarantino remarked that it would be the first western scored by Morricone in 40 years. Tarantino had previously used Morricone's music in Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. Morricone also wrote a brand new song, Ancora Qui, for the latter. Despite alleged tensions between the two, Tarantino decided to have Morricone on board to write new and original music for the movie. The Hateful Eight will be the first film by Tarantino to use mainly an original musical score. Most of Tarantino's previous films has used mainly source music, with only a few cues of original score written for the film.
