So Did This Walmart LP Over-Do It Or Not?

I bet if she was robbing your home, you would've done worse. Heck, look at the scam threads that pop up. Defending thieves now NT?

The good ol "defending the thief" response. No one is defending the thief. They're saying the LP guy is outta line in what he did. If you can't see that then IDK what to say. If she was robbing your home then yes the rules would be different.

its only cuz she black she got treated like this, they would never tackle a white woman down like that

it walmart yo the biggest corp in the world how much sleep they losin over what handful of stuff she took?

this rentacop going hard on min wage for his corporate overlords

This, I think both were in the wrong. The lady was wrong for stealing, and the LP was wrong for not following store policy. I don't feel bad for either.

I'm not defending anyone, if she stole from Walmart she needs to be apprehended and brought to justice, by AUTHORITIES, I've stated that several times.  But you chase her down and put her in a cross-face chicken-wing? That's not Walmart's procedure, I'm sure of it. I feel where the lady on camera is coming from, at the end of the day, that's a female. Equality is one thing, but he's clearly stronger than her and you can see him choking the life out of her.

I'm curious to know why did he feel compelled to go so hard for $200 worth of insured items? And why would he think Walmart would want someone like that representing their brand? He seems driven by action and the need to be physical.

Serious question...

Can someone find me a video of a cop handling a delicate little white woman like this?

Dead serious.

She's wrong for stealing, by the way... And should get charged... Although I think that is a misdemeanor.... Not a felony (for the amount stolen)

The video of the officer assaulting the woman in the jail cell busting her face comes to mind if someone can find it

We need to go back to the wild, wild west mentality. Everyone is so sue-happy these days that there are no consequences for their actions. She steals merchandise, but because she gets apprehended by an employee for stealing merchandise willingly out of a store, she's gonna get off scott free and get a nice chunk of change because of it.
Bottom line : If she didn't steal/run when asked IN THE STORE, she wouldn't have been run down. It's really as simple as that. Why do criminals get off because of something that happens after the fact that they committed a crime?
It's called due-process, why did automakers WORLDWIDE receive a $15 billion dollar bailout on over priced cars, that have recalls from faulty tires, to fuel lines that combust and incenerate whole families on the side of the highway? Why do companies engage in insider trading, and leave the honest man with worthless stocks?  Many people are homeless or fatherless because of suicide was the only way the men with worthless stocks could provide for their families through life insurance. Why are sneaker companies selling $300 sneakers that cost $0.45 to make by some kid in Asia? Why do politicians take trips and pay for mistress's yachts on taxpayer's money?

Crime is "subjective", and if we wanna get technical ....nevermind. I'll just say Aladdin stole ONLY what he couldn't afford. Trayvon Martin was just buying Skittles and Arizona...Zimmerman said the same thing you're saying.

Some people just have this innate hatred to hurt others and illogically convince themselves that their anger and actions are justified. They call this the "warrior gene".

This is the core of the issue, these men seem to comprehend institutions such as "justice", well enough to become LP's or "neighborhood watchmen", even cops yet they can't seem to understand "excessive force"?

That lady was right, you should NEVER have to beat a woman like that. Cops would've caught her probably a couple of minutes later and justice would've been served. IF SHE WAS CAUGHT STEALING. But by approaching people in this manner is what makes people not trust the law, flee or become apprehensive or defensive.

Imagine YOU being Marcus Jeter? Or the woman in the video above? What did Jeter do wrong?

Outstanding post.

Coming from someone that has worked part time in lp for years know your rights. First off retail chains are insured of their merchandise. If someone stops you all you have to do is keep it moving. No one is allowed to touch you. You never chase after anybody your safety comes first. Also remember that isn't your stuff that's being stolen. That lady will win a good 200k in court. Walmart will fire that lp guy and most likely any other that was involved with that apprehension.

Exactly. But here they will block your car in by standing behind or in front of it or holding the door open Most get ran over

Just to think of it when I was 15 I got caught stealing at tj max, walked out the door and dude threw me down when I tried to keep walking and held me there

few days ago we caught a lady shoplifting. We bring her down to the lp office and called the cops. Once the cops come she starts to resist when they tried to handcuff her. Mannnn robo cop went ham on this poor lady and smashed her head on the wall like five times.

Its not like they cant track you work to Jameis Winston

But seriously whats up with these hero rent-a-cops in FLA?

Guess I know where I wont go when Im retiring

thanks....

these cops are tripping... especially the first video... :x :x

I wonder how many of them lost their jobs, though...

I wasnt trying to say "white cops only hit black women"...

I just rarely hear about it...

one thing is common among all these reports... excessive force...

:smh: :smh:

Perhaps stores should give loss prevention more power and more of a green light in these situations. Hell employees too after reading some of those stories about counterfeit money.

What's the point of having loss prevention in the first place if their just a bunch of glorified rent a cops with no power at all?

And I get that the merchandise is insured and all. But in alot of cases an employee gets in trouble if they take a counterfeit bill, a manager gets in trouble if he constantly has bad audits partially due to living in a poorer troublesome area where people like to steal. Its cases where the entire staff of stores have gotten fired and the theft wasnt internal.

The guy here did too much, but its not uncommon for employees to get crap from the higher ups if stuffs constantly getting stolen, even though there was cases where the thief was caught red handed.

That's the one issue I have here, in those news articles, all I'm hearing about is how the employee went too far. No type of shaming whatsoever towards the thief who caused all this to begin with.

Give some of these LP guys more power and tell them to use it responsibly and put it where someone caught red handed stealing can't cry lawsuit because they were stopped by LP

Liability issue. They aren't Police. Last thing we need is more emboldened vigilantes running around. I'm fine with them just calling the real cops, who themselves have a tendency to abuse power. There's cameras, stuff's insured, they'll catch the culprits. If you want to give them guns, they'd have to get certified, which also means you have to pay them more anyways which is enough reason for stores to shoot down the idea.

You really believe we need men like the Walmart LP armed and invested with the authority to "fight crime" on insured merchandise?

Walmart in my area are ARMED and some stores employ policeman fully clothed. Walgreens and CVS as well
