What's there not to love about a show dealing with three EXTREMELY flawed cops with major skeletons in their closets?

I think the character development/story arch is exactly what will make this season. So far, so good.

Bruh, if they play it off as Colin was high or on drugs or some **** and it was all a hallucination or dream

If it's a dream I'm going to toss my tv out the window

Rock salt is the only thing that makes sense to me, unless they throw a curveball and the killing is really the ending and we build all the way up to it to finish the season

This actually makes a lot of sense. Would be dope to see how it plays out.

I personally love shows in which you can discuss theories. Makes you want to watch the show even more.

Lol at people saying other people don't "get it" because they don't like it. Go back through the S1 thread and you'll see I had it figured out while everyone else was throwing out the wild theories. And yes, it's only been two eps, but two mediocre eps. Go watch the first two eps from season one. They're much better. I really think S1 was good inspite of Pizzolato, not because of him. Farrel and Vaughn should be playing each other's roles and they should've done whatever they could to get Fukunaga back as director.

You also can't say to not compare seasons. It's the same show. Go into any thread and type something like "41325" and plenty of people will know what show's seasons you're ranking.

You couldn't be more wrong.

True Detective title is the only thing that is the same about the 2 seasons

Same title, same writer, both detective stories. I don't care about the actors or plot, I just was hoping for something more interesting with similar tones. I'm not saying it's terrible, it just isn't as good. S1 set the bar too high and like I said, I think that's because of Fukunaga. Honestly the first 5-6 minutes of S1E1 are better than the first two eps this season.

This season already had an ep end with a guy getting shot who obviously isn't dead or is going to be in flashbacks all season. How much more cliché can you get

So wait, this guy was the one who supposedly attacked Ray's wife?  According to Frank at the time anyway...

But the kid turns out to be a red-head... and while I don't remember my genetics-101, I'm guessing this guy can't be the father either?
Meaning Frank lied to him back then?
Who...is...the...Ginger King?

sooooo am I the only one curious what sexual act Rachel McAdams requested in her 1st scene that freaked dude out?????

also...

I think ita fair to criticize some things to Season 1 without creating these unreasonable expectation.

Ive enjoyed this season so far as much as I enjoyed the first two ep. in season 1.

I will say some of the dialogue hasnt been up to par...Vince in th opening scene last episode was borderline cringe worthy for me

Part of me likes Vince's character but that opening rant was def cringe worthy

Felt like I was watching a deleted scene from Wedding Crashers that was supposed to be serious

I like his character for the most part especially the  the rest of the 2nd episode. He did the best he could with what they gave him in the intro though

I never watched a lot of VV's comedies so I guess I can take him seriously...

I was late to this show so I binge-watched season 1 and loved it. I came to this thread AFTER that and remember thinking how happy I was not to have been reading this thread week in and week out. I'm beginning to think I should do the same for season 2.

I don't mind the speculation on theories, but it's always funny to read an overly complicated theory about a show. it's the complaining/crying that gets to me. the need for instant gratification as someone said earlier. this show is dense and it's going to take time. who knows, maybe it'll end up sucking. but I don't need all these fortune tellers/armchair critics to tell me what this show is failing at.

reminds me of these people complaining about pippen comparing himself to lebron, when I'm sure most of them never watched pippen extensively and never played much ball themselves. /rant

It's been TWO episodes.

True Detective has always been about the slow build and the entire story as a whole rather than the individual constituents.

Be patient. I for one and digging this season so far.
Season 1 had me hooked from the 1st episode just sayin.

Whats the point of owning a shotgun and putting rock salt. Is that an actual thing do people put that in their shotguns or is this some Hollywood bull ****? Why would you own a shotgun and then purposefully nerf it. The shotgun is designed to obliterate whatever you put infront of it.

i have a feeling frank told him the wrong man to kill, probably some competition.

this season has me hooked, going to rewatch 1st season.

That was my Initial thought, frank needed a guy to be killed so he pin pointed that guy in the pic as the guy who raped his ex wife, cause the kid is ginger and the ex wife nor that guy in the pic is a ginger. Frank framed that guy so Ray would kill him. Also that ginger guy with frank also intrigues me too. He may play a huge role down the line or possibly be the "ginger king"

I rewound the opening scene like 5 times. I couldn't hear crap and I turned it up super loud

After I understood, I was like

tried to be extra dramatic. His character was much more enjoyable/legit once the episode unfolded though. I started to buy him a bit more, feel his anxiousness

the dialogue is definitely hard to hear/understand and follow in many spots. my only criticism. i get the whole picture, but miss out on little details. hate watching with captions cause it distracts me from watching the show.
