Rays death hit me harder than most TV deaths.

Dude just wanted to see his kid. And to see the Velcoro badge next to that Fat P at recess. Bruhhh these feels :frown:

The love for his kid really killed him. The paternal relationships in this season are clearly a major theme. Ray with his father being a cop and his son being a fat P. Frank with his abusive father. Ani with her hippy father. The chessanis. The orphans and Caspere. Woodrugh about to be a dad

The feels bro. And on top of that, he has a another kid that he never knew with ani. Leaving two kids behind.

Season 2 was a far better story.
It all starts with the story for me.

Season 1 was good, the hype, the roles, the characters, but the story was not something I particularly cared about, the setting either.

This show should be on for a while.

Btw, the city of Vernon is what Vinci is based off of. And Rays house is an actual house in Vernon. And yes, it is actually right next to Vernon PD, just like in the show.

This season was literally an allegory to real life events in Cali. Especially with bohemian grove and the rail line

Was that his kid also with Ani at the end? I could have sworn they did forward a year since.

That's a good question though....would Frank put his pride on the line for a chance to see his lady again?

I don't know if it's much about pride or losing everything. He's made it clear throughout the season that he was not down with walking away with nothing. He already gave the mil to the Mexicans, all he had left was the 3.5 in diamonds. Pretty sure he'd die before giving it up

Edit: and for those who didnt catch it (I didnt), the reporter ani was talking to was the same one Ray roughed up for trying to uncover the corruption in Vinci

Just rewatched the scene here it goes

Velcoro: Did you have to kill those people?

Holloway:The osterman women had been seeing Ben for years. She was pregnant and she new things, when he tried to break it off she threatened him. Ben didn't even want the first kid much less another one.

Velcoro: The first one?

Holloway: The girl the little one that was ben's illegitimate daughter.

So Leonard & Erica were half siblings. Ben was the father to the girl. The mother was pregnant again from Ben, he didn't want the kid so he staged the execution and robbery.

There we go. So the dude was born first. Then his mom became pregnant with Casperes baby which is the girl. Then became pregnant again but died in that execution

So at the end Ani talking to a reporter out there giving him the story so he could publish it?

Yep she basically gave him everything she had. She felt she needed to release the story for the sake of justice. But clearly she wanted nothing to do with it anymore as it took so much away from her

Even though he's a POS, Rays dad crying and shaking at the end had me in my feels. Something about old people crying man :frown:

I don't know how any of you dudes had feels for Ray's death. I checked out on his character when they told me in episode 3 how, when, and where he was going to die. If you tell me point blank that one of your main characters is destined to die my level of investmeant just plummets.

Interesting tidbit that was glossed over was that the brother and the sister ended up killing their father (Caspere) and that he was whooring out his own kid and possibly sleeping with his daughter (unkowingly). That's some pretty bleak ****.

I didn't like how McAdams' character was regulated to standing around and watching for most of this episode. They had something going with her self realization earlier in the episode and then it delineated into her just sitting around waiting for phone calls. It took all the power away from her character.

Wasn't really sure what to take away from this season in terms of theme. IDK it's not close to season 1 for me and felt pretty stock overall.

Giving it a C.

We just wanted Ray to win against all odds but Franks death was more sad to me. To see someone slowly die and they cant do anything about it is beyond depressing

Interesting thought ... Crazy how the kids in this season led to the demise of the characters.

Caspere's dying from the two "orphan" kids that was his
Tony Chessani killing his dad.
Velcoro taking a detour to go see his kid led to him getting followed and eventually killed.

Let's not forget woodrough died leaving a kid same way as velcoro. Never got to seem em :frown:

Ray only had 3 more dudes to take out, he had this :smh:

Dude cornered himself behind that tree. He coulda took out dude on the left and had a chance against the Luitenant and other guy but I think after he saw that his message aint send, he just stopped thinking and caring and just went all out

season 2 would have been really good over 12 episodes, it was WAY too rushed which is my biggest problem

I will give it a 7 out of 10, kind of glad it's over to be honest

And now One of my HBO channels are showing wedding crashers haha, weird seeing mccadams and Vaughn after that true detective finale.

And they had to be on the move from that point because the news would have broke from Venezuela and therefore they would have been hunted down if they stayed put.
