Love this show. Probably my top 3 favorite of all time. With that being said........

The portrayal of inner city Black Baltimore was very lazy. Being someone that comes from that culture....I can tell you they didnt represent us 100%. That's Hollywood though,

the greatest aspect of the show is the realism. using real cops, real gangsters, real journalist to create the show is why its soo dope.

i wish i had never seen it to enjoy one more time. but ive rewatched every episode about 3 or 5 times.

For what it is worth, Rexanglorum's Top Five Shows of All Time:

1. The Wire
2. Breaking Bad
3. Game of Thrones
4. House of Cards
5. Sopranos

I am including only dramas in this list so Always Sunny, Seinfeld, Simpsons and any other comedy shows sit on a different ranking scale.

The Wire is crucial and pivotal because it shows our nation's elite how important labor econ really is. The low wages of the workers on the dock and the workers on the corner both serve to destabilize our communities. During the Reagan Years, we decided that it was futile to spend any money to try to affect full employment in our ghettos and barrios, As usual, Libertarian America did not take hold. Old Economy Police still police our poorest communities, Trickle Down Economics did not elevate poor people from poverty. As a result, we have a mandate, Government is supposed to occupy and control our poorest communities but "big government" must not spend a cent to make those places any less poor and hopeless.

No matter where you live, no matter your socio-economic situation, show the Wire to your friends and associates. DVR it or torrent it in late December when HBO releases it in HD. To my unwired friends, I have hyped up 2014-2015 as the Winter of Discontent. Show it, tell them to power through Season 2 and tell them to enjoy the show as both entertainment and as information.

Season 4 completed.

I'm interested in the HD. I'm not going to watch, because I have a box set, but it's cool it will bring it to another audience, besides the commercials and edited version they had on BET.

and that list, House Of Cards at number four and above Sopranos
