I just bought a Dell XPS 8700 from CostCo as my main computer. They were selling it for the same price as Dell.com, but with WAY better specs, so I had to jump on it.

Since I'm using my current laptop in a desktop setting with dual monitors, I was thinking of selling it, and getting a Chromebook as my portable computer. There are only a couple desktop applications I use now, but I'm switching using to Google Apps more.

My question, I typically have a couple dozen tabs open at any given time with 2-3 user profiles. If I keep them open for too long on my current setup (i5, 8gb RAM), it will start freezing my computer after a couple days.

What's been your experience with the Chromebook? Pros? Cons? If you like it, what brand do you suggest? Does it matter? Should I just get the $200 HP laptop instead?

It's pretty nice though since you can create a hyperlink in one box to link to a completely different sheet. As stated, I'm slowly starting to migrate over, but always have the apprehension whenever I'm somewhere without wifi.

Does Chrome save the basic stuff for offline use?

Look at the windows chromebook alternatives Asus X205 or HP Stream 11/13 if you can get over the ugly childish look.

i think you can use the docs, sheets, slides, etc while offline.. it just wont constantly save.

I've never used it on a chromebook though.. i'm just guessing.

I tried to use sheets inside of the chrome browser on my regular computer...

when i went to highlight a cell, and add a line... ( ctrl + shift + '+'), it zoomed in on the page...

I'm heavy on using keyboard shortcuts so i'm hoping they're somewhat similar in sheets.

I use mine for NT and fapping, so my best advice is if what you're doing is pushing your 8gb RAM, it'll be a problem with the Chromebook.
