The big cereal maker brings back French Toast Crunch after an eight-year hiatus.
Food Market
French Toast Crunch fans can rejoice. Golden Valley-based General Mills is bringing the cereal back to U.S. grocery shelves.
French Toast Crunch, an iteration of one of General Mills’ most popular cereals Cinnamon Toast Crunch, debuted in 1995 and was discontinued in this country in 2006. It has remained in production in Canada.
Calls for its return have been building on the internet, General Mills says on its blog "A Taste of General MIlls." Twitter is full of “French Toast Crunch love,” Mills says. And there’s a petition floating about the web to restore the cereal, with a Facebook group devoted to the cause.
“We have been overwhelmed by the consumer conversations, requests and passion for the cereal to come back,” Waylon Good, a General Mills marketing manager wrote on “A Taste of General Mills” blog.
French Toast Crunch is back in its original shape from the 1990s. The cereal is in select supermarkets now, and is scheduled to have nationwide distribution by the end of January.
