Want to win a new NikeTalk fitted cap? Help us make history!

No, you have to create or contribute to an article.

so if i post links or something. . .is that a contribution?
What do you mean?  Create an article that's just a link to a forum thread?

We're looking for original contributions (250 words or greater) to our articles section.  That can mean creating a new article or adding to an existing one.

Articles are different than forum thread.  A forum post has one author.  An article is a collaborative knowledge base, like Wikia or Wikipedia articles.  Our goal is to use this technology to develop a resource for sneaker fans, one that allows our members to share their considerable expertise with others in an accessible, well organized manner.

PUBLIC RELEASE!!!!

Hope I don't need a bot....

Just cranked out an article on the XV's. I am open to any constructive criticism and any contributions.

A pair of very good Air Jordan articles have been posted lately, but I want to encourage people to edit the existing articles where possible.

For example, this is a directory listing of Air Jordan models:  http://niketalk.com/a/air-jordan-line-contents

Editing the articles that this list points to will ensure that they're easy to find.

Remember, the key difference between articles and posts is that a post can only have ONE author.  With articles, each one can serve as the starting point for an ever-evolving and improving resource.  So, for example, I own a couple of the pairs not listed in Sole Woman's Air Jordan XV guide:  http://niketalk.com/a/air-jordan-xv-by-solewoman  I could photograph these and add them to fill in the blanks.  In this way, articles can get better and better over time and the added information is incorporated into the primary article itself - not listed in comments or replies.

Keep the submissions coming, everyone!

So I see that the articles have been created..can I simply add information if there is nothing there?

I wanted to contribute to a KD article if possible.

^ I tried to post mine to the actual air Jordan XV thread. but when I hit edit post it would change the directory just to the normal articles home page. I was going to try and move it but still havent had any luck. You can add to it I presume via the comments section nontheless.

Gotta hit up everyone who is getting me a Christmas gift and redirect them to this thread

On December 10th, 1999 NikeTalk officially opened to the public.  Though I doubt our population exceeded two dozen after that first day, we soon developed a reputation as the online home to the most knowledgeable sneaker fans on the planet.

HEADS. SneakerHEADS. We're sneakerheads Meth... How dare you call us fans.

I think I speak for each and every one of us when I say that I'm insulted by the fact that you think we're mere fans when we dedicate our lives to this. We eat, breath, mate and decease sneakers.

Since you think I'm a sneaker "fan", I feel completely undervalued and unappreciated, therefore I will not be participating.

Good luck to you and your "fans"

:rolleyes

Absolutely!!  As mentioned earlier, the key difference between a thread and an article is that a thread can only have one author.

With articles, we can allow for multi-user collaboration.  The existing article stubs are there for convenience, so anyone can fill them in and contribute.  Please do contribute to the existing KD article if possible.

Article editing is best done on the desktop version of the site.
So the caps went on sale early?
No, Cap City accidentally had the product page up for a bit and then took it down.  They have not been released yet.

Did one on the KD VI today. Hope that is what you had in mind for a shoe wiki.
That's great!

As a general reminder:  please remember to use proper citations and, if you use any direct quotes, be sure to indicate that.

It's fine to use an appropriate quote in an article, but a direct copy/paste approach will be regarded as plagiarism.

Right. Originally I had used Nike's content related to the history of the shoe, but I deleted that and just wrote my own.

Happy 15th!
Sounds like the next 15 will be even better. Glad I was a witness to it all.

Remember, today is the LAST full day to submit entries.

Be sure to get yours in by noon tomorrow to qualify for our contest.

If you've entered, make certain that you continue to check the site tomorrow and Saturday - we'll contact the winners by PM and we'll need to know your sizes ASAP.  All prizes MUST be claimed before the caps launch.

I just made a misc. article on taking the time to find the proper running shoe. I'm hoping something like that is what you're looking for?
