Hey NT,

So im currently a junior right now in college and I'll be graduating a year late.

I was considering going to grad school and if I do end up going, im a little worried about the financial side.

More specifically if I attend a school out of state.

Im aware of scholarships, working for the school, etc but will that be enough?

Eps having to pay for a place to stay, food, etc.

Anyone go to grad school out of state? I was thinking somewhere in cali. Either UCLA or UC Berkeley.

Any input?

have you thought about stripping. dead srs.
i knew a girl who did it and she paid her way through school. grant it, it was during the dot com era and dudes were throwing money left and right.

History major, right?

Speaking as someone with a BA in History...do yourself a favor: don't bother.

Your degree already lacks utility.  Why double-down?

In on this thread... Majoring in Computer Science and was thinking of getting my masters with a focus in Cyber Security

Have any of hall done a teaching stem subject for a few years in a needy district for scholarship?

Cyber security? Eff California man , look into nyu poly masters program for cyber security I have friends that are engineering majors there and they say secret service picks students from poly up every year, they start off 100k+ working for the First Lady and what not.

But if u have ur mind set on the west coast best of luck and like ppl said try to be a TA, donate sperm/kidney,strip, etc

I took out loans. Only thing I could do.

I suggest you looking into a graduate assistant position and lookup a scholarship finder website online.

And make sure the field your going to study in graduate school is the one that makes you happy doing at the end of the day.

GL.

Sounds expensive, but appreciate the info. Did not know of this at all and it doesn't hurt to do more research on such things.

Good looks fam. Still feels like im paddling in the middle of the Atlantic in pitch black.

Yeah. But education is the only thing in life thats worth the high price, just take out loans and do it I'm pretty sure u will get that job that pays high and look back and thank Nt

If you're worried about the money, start your job search. NOW. Reason I say this is there are a lot of companies that will pay for your graduate degree. Talk to an adviser at your school and see what they say.

This is obviously not the end all, be all...but just another option. Good luck, bruh.

History and education major but i'll be getting a degree only in education.

you guys act like homie won't be able to find a job teaching with those credentials. possibly spend let's say 60k max to make 50+ for the next 30 years. not the worst risk-reward set up.

Was going to suggest pursuit of company that will pay for your advanced degree(s), but not sure how likely this will be to encounter in your field.

Instead of loans, your only commitment is staying with that company for X years after graduating (haven't seen a term longer than 2 years which is not bad relative to the amount they pay for the degrees). Honestly can't imagine a better way to go about it unless you can secure a full scholarship and go full time

everybody's job is going to be replaced by robots so might as well pursue what you want

Dont know whether thats for how much $ imma be making or if I can find a job or not

but im basically guaranteed a job straight out of undergrad to be a public school teacher.

esp since my school's education program is ranked pretty high.

you sure you want to take that chance bruh?

I know there are some programs that forgives loans if you teach for a certain amount of time.

But do you HAVE to go to an expensive school on the west coast?

I read an article that said that the average teacher's salary cant allow you to buy a home in MUCH of california... So you're going to have to move, anyway... Or do the roommate thing..

Public schools aint going to be payiing you that much... and I dont think those loan forgiveness deals work if you go into a private school...

You can get to the same place at a much cheaper school, bruh... Without going into all the debt.

Yea of course going to grad out of state is just something i was considering.

idk.... just wanted to see some opinions on nt. just wanted to go to the west coast cause im starting to get sick of the dmv.

or i'll just thinking about teaching english in korea or somethin for a year or two
