How does this even make sense? if you can't do the physical labor then why even give them the job. They damn sure ain't hiring firefighters on cognitive ability.

The title is a bit misleading.

At a Council hearing, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro revealed he’s overhauled the rules at the fire academy to give less weight to physical tests known as Functional Skills Training. FST will count as part of a probationary firefighter’s overall grade, but they will no longer be barred from graduating solely because they don’t pass.

If you don't pass the physical, you will have a tough time graduating. This just takes away the pass/fail aspect of the physical test.

After the hearing, Nigro said passing the skills tests had only been required of the two most recent classes — and not for any of the 15 years before.

“We still grade the people. You can still fail it if you go beyond the time, but you’re not automatically failed from the program,” he said.

Just passed the cpat. Been preparing for the fire academy, heard it is no joke. The job is physically demanding and if a woman can't do it then they shouldn't be give the responsibility that involves saving a life. This whole equality thing goes too far sometimes.

* joke. Same with the military. Women cannot do everything men can physically. End of story. If they cannot pass the test then they SHOULD automatically fail. If I was stuck in a burning building I wouldn't want my life to depend on some woman who is physically unable to do the job. The test isn't even that hard forreal. My father is nearly 50, along with many other firemen in the department, and they can all do the job fine. If they can't pass that then why bother

They do. Especially in my town, these fools don't do ****. They stay there over night every night, and don't be no emergencies hardly ever. My guess is they have nightly orgies, its a few females on the ladder so I know something be popping.


I hate to see 98lbs soaking wet Myra try to drag 280lbs linebacker jimmy out of a burning building after he passes out of smoke inhalation. What a damn joke.


I really wish someone will step in soon and correct this corrupted country.
