There is several months of classes and training courses, along with a physical fitness test. Normally, if a trainee fails the physical test then they fail the course and need to go again at a later date. But now, people (women) who fail the test, which is not hard at all for the average male, don't automatically fail and can still graduate based on testing. 

So basically we are gonna have a portion of the NYFD that cannot physically do the job of a fireman, I mean fireperson

Exactly my point. Isn't the point of the FD is do physically do things to save people?
 
Why do you think if a woman doesn't have man strength she can't do her job?

I don't want the ol teletubby who eats donuts and plays pool everyday at the firehouse saving me either

The fdny fire academy is run as a paramilitary operation. You have to be in amazing shape in order to pass. With the physicality of the job and 80lb equipment they wear the average fireman is in great shape. If a woman can't wear the equipment walk up 8 floors and drag an unconscious 160lb person out then no they can't do their job. This isn't the police this is life or death for someone everytime.

What women decide to be firefighters anyway? That's like dudes going Hmm I think I wanna go work at the nail salon. Not a diss.. Just saying. You already know it's gonna be mostly one gender doing a job. Why does everything have to be so politically correct
 
I can totally see the trend of firemen and women failing to save young black men from burning buildings next year.

Bad comparison.

On one side a chick can see it as a challenge and might actually feel it's their calling. On the other, that's real personal, possibly suspect, or just a real unique individual that's really in to doing nails and w/e else they do at the salon.

Besides there's already plenty women in the military.

Iron workers do this crap too. My boy is on a job with some females. (Vikings stadium) they just sit around smoking cigs while the dudes do all the work because they can't. :lol:
