Part-Time Job @ Finish Line?

Fam....

You would be saving $200 a month by working 20 hours a month....how much does your "Fortune 100" job pay??

You heard of overtime? Time and a half?
If you work 20hrs a month overtime at your "Fortune 100" job, you would be getting way more than a measly $200 a month + the weak sneaker store salary, kid. (this is assuming you make more than $10 an hour...which is more than possible if you actually are a project manager for a F100 company)

Just work 20hrs overtime a month, son. It'll save you the stress of juggling between 2 W2 forms at the end of the year as well. Did you think about that?

I'm a salaried employee so I don't have the option of working overtime. If I combine my sneaket savings with the $8 wage, its about $18/hr I'm earning, not that lucrative but its not a bad way for me to spend an extra 20 hours a month on.

How the hell do you go to college to only be making $18/hr? Where they do that at?

Man I' worked at Finishline in High School, it is a pretty lame gig. From being forced to put the shoes on the customers feet to always trying to sell the damn waterproofer. Here's a hint "NO ONE WANTS IT". Anyways if you're making upwards of 60k I cannot fathom why you would want to spend your free time trying to meet sale quotas, push waterproofer, and get migraines from the constant blaring music and awful lights. And don't get me started on the unpaid overtime :x .

I worked at Finishline in high school and had a decent amount of fun. But I definitely wouldn't recommend someone above the age of 18 to stay there for too long if it's possible for them to go somewhere better.

zap, there are a lot of people with have a degree, who makes a lot less than $18 per hour. A grip of them are serving your starbucks or cleaning up after you eat out. College degree means nothing today, especially when you major in something like Art History

Damn, I know this is Niketalk, but is shoes that important that you willing to take on a second job?

And not even to get free pairs. A discount??

Hustling backwards.

Yeah I figured I couldn't use it on Jordans. But I still buy KDs, Kobes, flyknit, and other random shoes so I'd probably still use it alot.

Nope, no discounts on those either unless they sit. You assed out. I worked at Finishline part time years ago.

OP you really want a discount all you need to do is cop 2 pairs on RD for retail and sell one after some time for doble.

Lol.

Lol.
OP doesnt have time to line up on RD with that hustle and get pairs for free basically. But has time to work shifts putting shoes on smelly feet for 30% off.

Lol I actually do the RD thing now. But its too much of a damn hassle going from mall to mall after work getting raffle tickets for shoes I might not get. So I'd rather work a couple shifts a month to save on sneakers.

1. They are not going to just hire you for only a couple of shifts.

2. People has stated that you not getting discounts on RD pairs.

3. Breaking your back for $5 worth of material is foolish.

Assuming everything he has said is true... He's doing it so wrong...

You go to Finish Line... Find a cute girl... Mention your part of a Fortune 100 company... Explain what the means and why it's good... Buy her some McDonald's and a pack of Marlboro Red or Newports... Smash... Use her discount... Smash... BK and bottle of captain... Smash... Use her discount...

Then...

Get rid of her... Go to footlocker... And repeat...

Where did you get that he's making 18/hr from his main job?

I finished undergrad last year with a triple major in Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Economics. I work full-time at a Fortune 100 company as a project manager. Just looking to see if it was possible to get a sneaker store job with a couple shifts per month so I can get the employee discount.
Are you poor?

College can teach you everything you think you might need to know, except how to work with people & how to hustle. Case in point here.

this could be a great networking opportunity...you never know who you could be getting shoes for, get their contact and take over the game

Word, it just baffles me. If it's something you enjoy, I understand getting a double major with it or something, but why invest into anything, including an education if it's not going to pay off. I know it's a whole other discussion, but it is just ludicrous to me how so many people do this.

No the $18/hr is in reference to how much I would earn if I were to work at a sneaker store a couple shifts a month (assuming $8 wage plus the $200 or so I would save on sneakers per month)
