Can I paint over this?

View media item 1314778 I got these 2006 fire red 3s for a steal, but the seller "customized" these so they look like snake scales (I am assuming), I'm almost certain he just cut the original leather and didn't add any additional pieces. Is there any possible way I could get rid of that snake print look? Could I possibly put numerous coats of angelus and it would not be shown? It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me out here. God Bless and have a wonderful day!

where do i find someone to customize them like that for me? that's kinda dope imo. rather than deconstructing the whole shoe and replacing with python skin

I'm definitely no customizer, but my original thoughts are that you'd have to use something to rub down the texture to smooth them out then repaint them.

You can certainly paint over that. Light coats so it wont lose its texture, keep in mind.

Thank you! I don't think I'm looking to make this a project so I'm looking to get rid of them, like I said they're gonna be 9 years old, and they're unique to say the least, I think someone would appreciate them more then myself.
